Data Science Visualization information

What is data science visualization?

Data Science Visualization refers to the practice of creating graphical representations of data and analytical results to make complex information more understandable and actionable. Data visualization helps data scientists communicate insights, identify patterns, and inform decision-making by presenting data in charts, graphs, maps, and interactive dashboards. It bridges the gap between technical analyses and non-technical stakeholders, enabling clearer communication and more effective storytelling with data.

How does a data science visualization specialist typically collaborate with data scientists and other stakeholders during a project?

Data Science Visualization specialists play a key role in bridging the gap between complex data analysis and actionable insights. They often work closely with data scientists to understand the underlying data models and results, and then collaborate with business stakeholders to ensure visualizations are tailored to the audience's needs. Regular meetings, feedback sessions, and iterative design processes are common, enabling effective communication and ensuring that visual outputs are both accurate and impactful. This collaborative environment helps ensure that data-driven insights are easily understood and used for decision-making across the organization.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a data science visualization specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive in Data Science Visualization, you need a strong grasp of data analysis, statistics, and data storytelling, often supported by a degree in computer science, statistics, or a related field. Proficiency with visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, or D3.js as well as programming languages such as Python or R is typically required. Creativity, attention to detail, and effective communication are valuable soft skills for translating complex data into clear, actionable visuals. These skills are crucial for transforming raw data into insights that drive informed business decisions.

What is the difference between Data Science Visualization vs Data Analyst?

AspectData Science VisualizationData Analyst
Required SkillsData visualization tools, programming (Python, R), statistical knowledgeExcel, SQL, basic statistics, data reporting
Work EnvironmentData science teams, research projects, advanced analyticsBusiness units, reporting, data cleaning
Industry UsageTech, finance, healthcare, researchRetail, marketing, finance, operations

Data Science Visualization focuses on creating advanced visual representations of complex data sets using programming and statistical tools, often within data science teams. Data Analysts primarily generate reports and dashboards using tools like Excel and SQL for business decision-making. While both roles involve data visualization, Data Science Visualization emphasizes technical, programming-based visualizations for in-depth analysis, whereas Data Analysts focus on accessible reports for business insights.

Job description

Amplifi is a full-service data and AI consultancy with collective expertise across multiple data disciplines in North America and EMEA. That means we play as a team to solve the most complex challenges for our clients. While other data consultancies talk about the potential of data and AI, we realize it. And by doing so we help the world’s largest brands evolve, adapt and modernize the way they work. Our company and team members are proud to empower our clients’ businesses by providing exceptional solutions and value, as we truly believe their success is our success. We thrive on delivering excellent solutions and overcoming technical and business challenges. As such, we’re looking for like‑minded individuals to learn, grow, and mentor others as a part of the Amplifi team.

Position Summary

The Data Scientist, specializing in AI and Advanced Analytics, plays a key role within Amplifi’s consulting team, combining hand‑on technical execution with client advisory to design and deliver scalable analytics and AI solutions.

You will work across the full lifecycle, from identifying use cases to deploying production‑ready models, while partnering closely with clients to translate business challenges into data‑driven outcomes.

  • Partner with clients to define business problems, assess data accessibility, and shape practical analytics and AI solutions.
  • Develop a range of outputs including quick proofs of concepts, up to large, scalable, sustained data products.
  • Access data (e.g. via APIs), prepare data, and generate features as required for modeling tasks.
  • Design, build, and deploy machine learning models across a range of use cases (e.g., forecasting, segmentation, pattern detection).
  • Analyze structured and unstructured data to generate insights, statistical findings, and develop high‑quality data products.
  • Lead AI and predictive modeling initiatives, including LLM‑based/GenAI applications, computer vision, and traditional ML solutions.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to deliver scalable data pipelines and solutions across modern platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, Dataiku, cloud).
  • Communicate insights clearly through visualizations, dashboards, and executive‑ready storytelling.
  • Mentor team members, contributing to a culture of continuous learning and development within Amplifi.
Necessary Skills / Attributes
  • Experience with modern data platforms and AI/ML development tools (e.g., Dataiku, Databricks, or similar)
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL; experience with API/JSON integrations.
  • Experience with statistical analysis and interpretation of data.
  • Experience with machine learning algorithms for prediction, classification, and time series.
  • Experience building and deploying AI/ML solutions (predictive models, LLMs, computer vision, etc.)
  • Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, or similar)
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills; comfortable presenting to the C‑suite and working alongside data engineers alike
  • Experience in Agile project delivery environments
Education / Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, or analytics
  • Master's degree in Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or related field preferred.
