Hiring Unit:

Department of Geography

Position Summary:

  • Assist with lab research and collecting data from the following tasks:
  • Preparation (drying, weighing and grinding) of soil samples for measurement of carbon content, stable isotope analyses and radiometric dating to determine rates of carbon sequestration
  • May assist with subsampling from cores, use of a muffle furnace, measurement using a pXRF or gas chromatograph
  • Assist with data entry and analysis
  • Assist with preparing materials to be used in field experiments
  • Assist with lab organization, maintenance and obtaining supplies

Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities:

  • Must have eye for detail
  • Ability to communicate in English
  • Familiarity with Excel

Experience and Education:

  • Preferred to be an undergraduate student enrolled in the Faculty of Science
