What is a data science fall internship?

A Data Science Fall Internship is a temporary, structured work experience offered by organizations during the fall semester, designed for students or recent graduates interested in data science. Interns typically work on real-world projects involving data collection, analysis, machine learning, and visualization under the guidance of experienced data scientists. This internship provides hands-on experience, exposure to industry tools and techniques, and helps participants build valuable skills for future careers in data science. It also offers networking opportunities and a chance to explore potential career paths within the field.

What types of projects can I expect to work on during a data science fall internship?

As a Data Science Fall Intern, you can expect to work on projects involving data cleaning, exploratory data analysis, and the development of predictive models using real-world datasets. Interns often collaborate with full-time data scientists and cross-functional teams to solve business problems, such as improving user engagement, optimizing processes, or generating actionable insights from large data sets. You may also participate in regular team meetings, present findings, and contribute to ongoing research or tool development. This hands-on experience helps you build both technical and communication skills within a dynamic and supportive environment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a data science fall intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Data Science Fall Intern, you generally need a solid foundation in statistics, programming (often Python or R), and data analysis, typically supported by coursework or experience in computer science, mathematics, or related fields. Familiarity with tools like pandas, scikit-learn, SQL, and data visualization libraries, as well as version control systems like Git, is highly valued. Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and effective communication skills help interns interpret data insights and collaborate with team members. These competencies are essential for producing actionable analyses and contributing meaningfully to data-driven projects in a short-term, fast-paced internship environment.

Job Description:

Position Summary

We are hiring a Data Science Manager to lead project delivery across a range of data science engagements and serve as a key point of contact for clients. You will manage the day-to-day work of analyst-level team members, translate complex analytical findings into client-ready insights, and navigate stakeholder conversations with confidence. The work spans predictive modeling, regression analysis, and marketing analytics, and this role sits at the intersection of technical delivery and account management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end delivery of data science projects, including scoping, data collection, model development, and final presentations.

  • Serve as the primary client contact for active engagements, managing feedback, handling methodology questions, and maintaining strong working relationships.

  • Translate model outputs (decompositions, ROI estimates, diminishing returns curves) into clear, actionable recommendations for marketing clients.

  • Lead stakeholder discussions around model scope, data requirements, and interpretation of results, including managing requests that fall outside agreed project boundaries.

  • Manage and mentor analyst-level team members, providing direction on analytical tasks and reviewing outputs for quality.

  • Coordinate across internal teams (strategy, media, platforms) to align MMM outputs with broader client deliverables.

  • Contribute to proposal development and statements of work for new and existing client engagements.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • 3 to 6 years of experience in a quantitative or analytics role, with at least 2 years in a client-facing capacity.

  • Solid working knowledge of regression-based modeling and Marketing Mix Modelling methodology.

  • Proven ability to manage client relationships, handle pushback professionally, and maintain project momentum under competing demands.

  • Experience presenting analytical findings to non-technical stakeholders and adapting communication style to different audiences.

  • Proficiency in Python or R, and comfort working with media, sales, or consumer dataset types.

  • Understanding of the marketing lifecycle, key KPIs and metrics

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.

Nice to Have

  • Experience at a marketing agency or management consultancy.

  • Familiarity with Bayesian regression methods and adstock modeling.

  • Background working with media planning or analytics platforms.

What we offer

  • A high-visibility role with direct client impact across a range of industries.

  • Opportunity to shape how the team approaches client delivery and model communication.

  • Competitive salary, benefits, and professional development support.
