Full Time - Institutional Research Data Analyst
The Blinn College District is searching for a Full Time - Institutional Research Data Analyst at our Brenham Campus.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities are listed below:
Job Summary
To analyze data, generate reports and visualizationson Business Intelligence platforms based on data from the student informationsystem, assessment processes and outcomes, and other data sources that providea basis for effective institutional planning, decision making, and strategicmanagement.
Principal Accountabilities
  1. Extract data from student information system and other sources to perform statistical analyses and meet external reporting requirements (e.g., THECB, IPEDS, SACSCOC).
  2. Compile and analyze information from surveys, student information system, and other sources (e.g., assessment results, etc.) using descriptive (e.g., averages, percentages, etc.) and inferential (e.g., t-test, regression, etc.) statistics.
  3. Communicate research results to relevant parties within the College to facilitate decision making and support institutional effectiveness processes (e.g., program review, continuous improvement, strategic planning, etc.) using narrative, tables, and graphs as appropriate.
  4. Create and administer course evaluations and other surveys using online survey tool; generate survey reports using online tool.
  5. Verify accuracy and consistency of data prior to dissemination.
  6. Train end users on use of software tools related to data reporting and analysis (e.g., Argos and MS Excel).
  7. Assist Dean and Directors in development of key performance indicators for the College based on strategic objectives and other considerations; maintain key performance indicators ensuring up to date information.
  8. Develop and maintain data visualizations on business intelligence platforms (PowerBI, Tableau, etc.).
  9. Participate in professional conferences and other learning platforms to enhance knowledge of the higher education and Institutional Research industry.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications/ Required Degree, License or Certifications
  1. Bachelor's degree
  2. Experience with data analysis
  3. Knowledge of SQL and relational databases
  4. Computer proficiency in MS Office Suite
  5. Knowledge of the ARGOS Enterprise Reporting
  6. Experience with Business Intelligence Platforms (PowerBI, Tableau, etc.)
  7. Proficiency with MS Excel including query functions and pivot tables.
  8. Knowledge of survey platforms (Blue, SurveyMonkey, Qualitrics, etc.)

Minimum Competencies
  1. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with others.
  2. Ability to consult with end users to clarify and focus data requests.
  3. Ability to train end users on relevant software tools (e.g., Argos reporting tool).
  4. Ability to work with and communicate effectively with vice presidents, deans, directors, chairs, faculty, and staff.
  5. Ability to communicate clearly in numerical, graphical, and narrative form, including effective written and verbal communication skills.
  6. Ability to organize and prioritize tasks and projects.
  7. Ability to perform statistical analyses using a computer.
  8. Ability to improve and streamline processes to improve efficiency.
  9. Ability to embrace change and continuous improvement

Preferred Qualifications
  1. Master's degree
  2. Proficiency using Banner and/or Argos for querying and reporting.
  3. Knowledge of higher education planning and evaluation processes.
  4. Experience in Institutional Research functions in higher education contexts.
  5. Proficiency with Business Intelligence platforms.
  6. Proficiency survey platforms.
  7. Proficiency with SQL and relational databases.

This is a 40 hour a week, on-campus position, Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.
