On behalf of our client, Procom Services is searching for a Storage & Backup/Recovery Engineer for a contract opportunity in Plano, TX.

Storage & Backup/Recovery Engineer Job Details

Seeking a detail oriented, highly organized, goal oriented/driven individual with excellent communication skills to deliver Data Protection, Backup and Recovery services. Candidate will work closely with Program/Project Management, IT Managers, SME's and project teams to deliver solutions.
Roles & Responsibilities 
- Provide day to day global operational activities for Storage and Backup/Recovery teams including administering storage array architecture, SAN infrastructure, Network Attached Storage (NAS), Enterprise Backup/Restore, Hierarchical Storage Management (HSM) and Archival and Retrieval 
- Produce regular reports to assist in cost recovery, capacity planning and consolidation 
- Responsible for capacity planning and performance analysis of backup and recovery infrastructure. 
- Assist in Data Center consolidation efforts 
- Analyze Problems & escalate to appropriate Levels. Hardware /software fault detection and vendor liaison 
- Perform H/W monitoring and maintenance 
- Responsible for advanced troubleshooting of Storage and Backup/Recovery related issues 
- Create and Manage Dataset, Schedule and Retention Policy. Monitoring AVAMAR backups and recovering failed backups 
- Configuring/Managing VMware backups 
- Ensure backup of critical system/application infrastructure via Avamar 

Storage & Backup/Recovery Engineer Mandatory Skills

- Experience in AVAMAR Backup Tool. 
- Strong Knowledge of EMC Avamar concepts 
- AVAMAR server/Client and Administrator console installation. 
- Experience in Avamar grid configuration in large scale data center deployments 
- Multi-site replication experience (Avamar to Avamar) 
- Creating and modifying backup policies and configuring new and existing backup clients 
- Support of backup clients for multiple operating systems (Windows, RHEL) and applications (SQL, Oracle, mysql) 
- AVAMAR system migration concepts 
- Comfortable using GUI and CLI 
- In depth troubleshooting and support on Avamar Servers, Storage Nodes, NDMP Accelerators 
- Data Domain experience with following 
o Integration experience with Avamar and Data Domain 
o Experience supporting DDBOOST plug-in (SQL, Oracle) 
o Multi-site replication (collection, mtree, directory) 
o Comfortable using GUI and CLI 
o Extended Retention 
- Experience in Storage platforms: 
o EMC VMAX (Block), VNX(NAS /BLOCK), CLARION (BLOCK) 
o NETAPP - FAS Series NAS / SAN - CDOT or 7 MODE Experience 
o SAN SWITCHES Like Brocade or Cisco 
o Any other Storage like HP, Pure, Hitachi, HP, Tintri or Oracle ZFS will be a plus 
- 2 + Years of experience in Storage and Backup/Recover platform with multi-vendor storage solutions (EMC, NetApp) 
- Should be a Team Player 
- Good Communication Skills 
- Able to tackle new challenges with little direction 
- Experience with vSphere 5.0 is a Plus 
- Basic Windows and/or Linux Admin skills 
- Basic understanding of Network infrastructure i.e. routing, DNS, etc 
- Ability to work under a process-centric ITIL Framework
