About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Salesforce Data Quality Engineer to support the modernization of an accreditation and fee processing program at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). This role will lead data migration and quality activities for the new Salesforce platform replacing accreditation management functions currently housed within the legacy system. The engineer will analyze legacy SQL Server data, develop source-to-target mappings, execute data extraction, transformation, and loading activities, perform data validation and reconciliation, and implement data quality controls. By joining our organization, you will help improve services provided to Veterans and accredited representatives.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Collaborate with our development teams and stakeholders to understand business requirements.
  • Design and execute data migration strategies from GCLAWS to Salesforce.
  • Analyze and profile legacy GCLAWS data residing in SQL Server databases.
  • Develop and maintain source-to-target mapping documents and transformation rules.
  • Perform ETL activities and support data loading using Salesforce migration tools.
  • Conduct data quality assessments, reconciliation, validation testing, and automated monitoring processes.
  • Collaborate with Salesforce architects, developers, business stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to improve data migration and data quality processes.
  • Create and execute migration test plans and document defects and resolutions.
  • Design, develop, and execute test plans, test cases, and test scripts for Salesforce applications, including manual, automated, API, performance, and regression tests.
  • Identify, document, and track defects using bug tracking tools such as JIRA.
  • Serve as subject matter specialist providing data migration and data quality expertise.
  • Provide regular status updates on data migration progress, issues, data quality, and risks to your team and project stakeholders as necessary.
  • Contribute to the overall quality assurance strategy and participate in team meetings and knowledge-sharing sessions.
  • Stay updated on Salesforce best practices, new features, and industry trends.

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in data quality, data migration, data engineering, or related disciplines.
  • Experience with Salesforce implementations, SQL Server, ETL processes, source-to-target mapping, data profiling, and reconciliation.
  • Strong SQL and analytical skills for data analysis, reconciliation, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust determination.
  • Experience with data migration projects involving Salesforce or other CRM platforms.
  • Strong understanding of ETL processes, data mapping, transformation rules, and data validation techniques.
  • Experience using Salesforce Data Loader, Data Import Wizard, or similar migration tools.
  • Experience developing and executing test plans, test cases, and data validation testing.
  • Experience tracking and managing defects using tools such as Jira.
  • Experience working in Agile development environments.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Salesforce Administrator Certification.
  • Salesforce Platform App Builder Certification.
  • Salesforce Data Cloud, Data Architect, or related Salesforce certifications.
  • Experience with data quality tools and automated data validation frameworks.
  • Experience with test automation tools and API testing.
  • Knowledge of Salesforce data model, security model, and integration patterns.
  • Experience migrating data from legacy case management or legal systems.
