Job description

Position Summary
As a Quality Assurance intern, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various aspects of Quality Assurance. You will work closely with the QA team to support training efforts, support completion of process capability studies for specific products, complete product validations and support commercialization task as neeed.
Responsibilities
  • Completion and documentation of quality assurance related checks and audits
  • Review of plant documentation and data and verification of product conformance to specification
  • Monitor compliance with plant GMP’s and established procedures
  • Develop and update plant standard operating procedures and work instruction/training materials
  • Participate in and assist in leading sensory panels and sensory training
  • Completion of equipment/process validation and shelf life studies
  • Assist QA personnel with 3rd party audit preparations
  • Identifying and assisting with process improvement projects
  • Collecting and analyzing production floor data to identify issues and improve processes
  • Assist in new product trials and data collection
  • Working alongside supervisors and management to resolve plant non-conformances
  • Present results of project work to upper management at conclusion of internship
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Must be enrolled in and completed your sophomore year (by time of start date) at a credited College or University in food science or another science related field.
  • Able to perform duties required in an office and manufacturing environment in accordance with GMP’s and safety guidelines
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team to complete projects
  • Have reliable transportation to and from working location.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Work is performed in an office/production environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those individual encounters while performing the essential functions of this position. Continually required to lift/push/carry items less than 25 pounds/ up to 25 pounds. Often required to lift/push/carry 25 – 50 pounds. Frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions (non-weather), cold and hot conditions. Frequently work near moving mechanical parts. Frequently required to stand and walk
