Data Quality Engineer
We are seeking a Data Quality Engineer to support and scale data quality across our AWS-based data platform. This role will focus on ensuring trusted, reliable data across customer, product, and operational datasets that power e-commerce experiences, analytics, and AI initiatives.
You will partner closely with data engineering, analytics, and product teams to embed quality directly into pipelines, improve observability, and enable confident, data-driven decision making.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Quality Engineering
  • Design and implement data quality frameworks across batch and real-time data pipelines
  • Define and enforce data quality rules (completeness, accuracy, consistency, timeliness)
  • Build automated checks for:
    • Schema validation
    • Data drift and anomaly detection
    • Referential integrity and business rule validation
  • Establish and track data quality KPIs and SLAs

AWS Data Platform Integration
  • Embed data quality controls within AWS-native pipelines using:
    • Amazon S3 (data lake)
    • AWS Glue (ETL/ELT processing)
    • Amazon Redshift / Snowflake (analytics layer)
    • AWS Lambda (event-driven validation)
  • Validate data across ingestion transformation consumption layers
  • Support both batch and streaming pipelines (e.g., Kinesis, Kafka if applicable)

Pipeline Testing & Automation
  • Develop and maintain automated testing frameworks for data pipelines
  • Create:
    • Unit and integration tests for ETL/ELT jobs
    • Data reconciliation and regression test suites
  • Integrate testing into CI/CD pipelines for continuous validation
  • Enable reusable validation patterns using tools like dbt, Great Expectations, or custom frameworks

Data Observability & Monitoring
  • Implement monitoring and alerting using CloudWatch or similar tools
  • Build dashboards to track:
    • Data freshness
    • Pipeline health
    • Data quality trends
  • Perform root cause analysis on data issues and partner with engineering to resolve

Data Focus
  • Ensure quality across key domains such as:
    • Customer data (profiles, behavior, segmentation)
    • Product/catalog data (attributes, pricing, inventory)
    • Order and transaction data
    • Clickstream / digital analytics data
  • Support downstream use cases including:
    • Personalization and marketing analytics
    • Inventory and supply chain insights
    • Customer experience optimization

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with data engineers to embed quality checks directly into pipelines
  • Work with business stakeholders to define data acceptance criteria and rules
  • Support analytics and AI teams by delivering high-quality, production-ready datasets

Required Qualifications
  • 3-7+ years of experience in data engineering, data quality, or QA for data platforms
  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS data ecosystem (S3, Glue, Redshift, Lambda)
  • Proficiency in SQL and Python for data validation and transformation
  • Experience building and testing ETL/ELT pipelines
  • Understanding of data modeling and data warehousing concepts

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with data quality frameworks/tools (dbt tests, Great Expectations, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Airflow / MWAA or similar orchestration tools
  • Experience with streaming data validation (Kafka, Kinesis)
  • Exposure to data governance, lineage, and cataloging tools
  • Experience supporting AI/ML or advanced analytics pipelines
