Job description

Everforth ECS CS is seeking a Data Architect to work in our Fairfax, VA office.
Everforth ECS is looking for a Data Architect to support Dashboard Development for the Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation (CDM) Program. CDM is a dynamic approach to fortifying the cybersecurity of government networks and systems. ECS is looking for candidates to aid in the development of dashboard solutions to visualize cyber security related data: Hardware Assets, Software, Vulnerabilities, Configuration, Compliance Scores, Risk Scores, etc.
This position will be the primary subject expert in managing logical data modeling, designing and architecting, data target, and data quality aspects of the CDM project. The stakeholders span multiple Agile teams, program leadership, and customer representatives. All parties have an interest in understanding and/or implementing the data model with quality in mind. Successful candidates will have an advanced understanding of data modeling concepts and be able to perform impact analysis on change requests, respond to queries, and facilitate independent analysis efforts. Furthermore, the successful candidate will serve as the liaison for the customer's data quality efforts, participating in regular meetings, representing the ECS CDM program, and supporting the requirements gathering process.
Specific Duties Include:
  • Performing data model analysis and serving as the subject matter expert supporting data modeling efforts.
  • Working with data models and managing the change process for data models.
  • Creating and maintaining Data Dictionaries and/or Data Catalogs to describe data inventories and schemas to help users understand, locate, and utilize data within the system.
  • Documenting data models, adhering to data modeling standards, and clearly communicating the intent.
  • Develop programming logic to understand inputs, processes, and outputs. Evaluating code to understand data model references during analysis (python, Java).
  • Managing processes that govern data model changes.
  • Managing data quality (i.e., completeness, consistency, accuracy, and usability).
  • Act as the primary technical advisor to customers, providing expert feedback, architectural guidance, and best-practice recommendations to align data strategies with program goals.
  • Proactively analyze customer data requirements to deliver tailored solutions that ensure technical feasibility and data governance compliance.

Salary:$157,000 - $220,000
General Description of Benefits
  • Bachelor's or University degree/ equivalent experience (master's degree is preferred).
  • US citizenship with the ability to obtain Public Trust Suitability.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and managing data schemas that comply with cyber-relevant data standards and frameworks, e.g., SCAP, STIX, OTEL, Elastic Common Schema, Splunk Common Information Model.
  • Must have prior experience working on data models:
    • Developing and documenting data models
    • Adhering to data modeling standards
    • Interpreting data model intent
    • Managing the change process for data models
    • Serve as the SME supporting data modeling efforts
  • Must have an excellent understanding of:
    • UML standards and knowledge of entities, attributes, relationships on an ERD
    • Database management systems (i.e. relational, non-relational)
    • Understanding of data normalization processes
  • Proven experience in designing, modeling, and managing complex data warehouses, ensuring high data quality, and integrity.
  • Identify new and creative approaches to data quality within the CDM Dashboard program.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to communicate complex ideas to non-technical audiences in an effective manner.
  • Experience with the Atlassian application lifecycle management suite (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket).
  • Must be a quick thinker with strong, rapid problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to operate with minimal supervision in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with evolving priorities.
