Quality Assurance System Tester

Non-SCA, Full-time US

Salary Range: $85,000.00 To $141,000.00 Annually

FM Talent Source is an enterprise that provides business and workforce solutions to help organizations nationwide overcome business challenges. Our clients include federal, state and local government agencies, Fortune 500 Companies, and non-profit organizations. Founded in 2004, we have a strong history of providing recruitment strategies and utilizing effective project and quality management methodologies to ensure our clients success.

We are seeking one Quality Assurance System Tester for a full-time contract opportunity with FM Talent Source for one of our valued clients.

The Quality Assurance System Tester will support a large-scale agile software development program for the GrantSolutions contract, including both new software capabilities and ongoing support for legacy system functionality. This role will be embedded with software delivery teams to validate application features, integrations, data flows, legacy touchpoints, and release packages throughout the software development lifecycle. The tester will design and execute manual and automated tests, support developer-led quality practices, analyze defects, verify code changes, and help ensure that new and existing system capabilities meet functional, technical, security, accessibility, and operational requirements before production release.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a Quality Assurance System Tester with strong software testing, test automation, and application validation experience to support the GrantSolutions software delivery environment. This role will work directly with developers, Product Owners, Scrum Masters, integration engineers, data teams, DevSecOps engineers, vendors, and Federal stakeholders to verify that new software capabilities and supported legacy functionality are reliable, secure, accessible, data-consistent, and ready for incremental release.

The Quality Assurance System Tester will participate across the SDLC by reviewing user stories and technical designs, developing test scenarios, validating software behavior, supporting application and data testing, documenting and retesting defects, and contributing to automated regression testing within CI/CD pipelines. This individual will help strengthen engineering quality, improve release confidence, and reduce production risk across new application components, existing legacy functionality, and system integrations.

  • Participate throughout the software development lifecycle by reviewing user stories, acceptance criteria, technical designs, data mappings, interface specifications, and release plans to define complete and traceable test coverage.
  • Design, execute, and maintain manual and automated test cases for application features, integrations, workflows, reports, database changes, regression scenarios, smoke testing, and user acceptance testing.
  • Develop and maintain automated test scripts, test suites, reusable test data, and regression assets that can be executed consistently across development, test, staging, and release environments.
  • Perform end-to-end software testing across new application components, supported legacy system functionality, data exchanges, background jobs, user workflows, reporting outputs, and role-based access paths.
  • Support integration and database testing by validating data persistence, data transformation logic, error handling, access behavior, and downstream processing outcomes.
  • Document defects clearly with reproducible steps, expected and actual results, test evidence, severity, priority, environment details, and supporting screenshots or logs when appropriate.
  • Collaborate closely with developers during sprint execution to reproduce defects, analyze logs or test results, validate fixes, clarify expected software behavior, and support code promotion and release readiness decisions.
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines where appropriate and support automated test execution, results review, failure analysis, test environment coordination, and maintenance of reusable test data.
  • Support accessibility, security, performance, data quality, and operational readiness testing in coordination with specialized teams and approved program standards.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of software quality practices, test automation frameworks, defect management, traceability, release validation, and engineering quality metrics.
Qualifications Required
  • Clearance Required: Ability to obtain Public Trust
  • Minimum of FOUR (4) years of experience in software quality assurance, software testing, application testing, test automation, systems testing, or related software development lifecycle roles.
  • Hands‑on experience designing, executing, and documenting test cases for application features, integrations, database changes, workflows, regression testing, smoke testing, and user acceptance testing.
  • Hands‑on experience developing, maintaining, and executing automated test scripts using test automation tools, frameworks, scripting languages, or code-based testing approaches.
  • Experience testing web-based applications, data integrations, interfaces, reports, background processes, and end‑to‑end business workflows across multiple software environments.
  • Experience with defect tracking, test management, requirements traceability, test evidence capture, test data preparation, release validation, and defect retesting.
  • Understanding of the software development lifecycle, agile delivery, DevSecOps practices, version control, branching and merging concepts, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and release management.
  • Ability to interpret user stories, acceptance criteria, business rules, interface specifications, data mappings, architecture guidance, and technical design documentation.
  • Ability to troubleshoot test failures, isolate defects, analyze logs, query data when needed, validate fixes, and communicate software quality risks clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong documentation skills, including the ability to maintain test plans, test cases, test scripts, traceability matrices, defect records, test evidence, and release readiness summaries.
  • Strong problem‑solving, collaboration, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a software delivery team that includes Product Owners, developers, integration engineers, data teams, DevSecOps engineers, vendors, security teams, and business stakeholders.
  • Self‑motivated, detail‑oriented, and able to operate effectively in fast‑paced, dynamic environments with competing testing priorities and release timelines.
Preferred
  • Experience supporting software development initiatives that include both new application capabilities and ongoing validation of legacy system functionality within enterprise or government environments.
  • Experience supporting federal or government IT programs involving legacy systems, shared services, interoperability, cloud environments, data governance, system integrations, or phased capability delivery.
  • Experience with test automation tools or frameworks such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, Cucumber, Postman/Newman, REST Assured, JUnit, TestNG, or similar tools.
  • Experience with test management, defect tracking, and agile delivery tools such as Jira, Subject 7, Confluence, or similar platforms.
  • Familiarity with AWS cloud environments, SQL/database validation, data integration testing, accessibility testing, security testing, performance testing, logging, monitoring, or observability tools.
  • Exposure to Git-based workflows, pull request validation, build verification, unit test awareness, static analysis results, or other engineering practices that support software quality.
  • Quality, agile, testing, automation, cloud, or security certification preferred, such as ISTQB, Certified ScrumMaster, SAFe, AWS Cloud Practitioner, Security+, or similar credentials.
