Job description

Responsibilities

The Senior Manager of Insider Risk & Data Protection supports the Vice President of Corporate Security Compliance & Risk by leading day-to-day operations of the enterprise insider risk and data protection programs. This role is responsible for maturing technical controls, enhancing investigative capabilities, and managing a small team focused on proactive risk detection, response, and mitigation.

The position combines technical security oversight, investigative leadership, and cross-functional collaboration to protect company data, personnel, and operations across a global enterprise environment.

Key Responsibilities

Insider Risk & DLP Program Leadership

  • Lead operational execution and maturation of the enterprise Data Loss Prevention (DLP) program.
  • Develop and refine monitoring use cases aligned to insider risk scenarios.
  • Optimize detection capabilities across endpoint, network, cloud, and SaaS environments.
  • Partner with cybersecurity teams to improve alert fidelity, automation, and response workflows.
  • Translate technical findings into risk-based recommendations for leadership.

Technical Security Oversight

  • Administer and enhance technical monitoring tools supporting insider risk detection.
  • Analyze user activity, anomalous behavior, and data movement patterns.
  • Drive automation and data analytics initiatives to improve investigative efficiency.
  • Support integration of new security technologies and telemetry sources.

Investigations & Response

  • Conduct and oversee insider risk and corporate investigations involving data misuse, policy violations, or security concerns.
  • Maintain defensible investigative processes and documentation.
  • Coordinate with Legal, HR, Cybersecurity, and Compliance stakeholders.
  • Ensure appropriate chain-of-custody and evidence handling practices.

Team Leadership

  • Manage and mentor a small team of analysts/investigators.
  • Establish performance expectations, workflows, and professional development plans.
  • Foster a collaborative, analytical, and ethical team culture.

Program Development & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Support development of policies, standards, and training related to insider risk and data protection.
  • Provide executive-ready reporting and program metrics.
  • Build trusted relationships across business units and leadership teams.
  • Support strategic initiatives directed by the Vice President to advance enterprise security modernization.
Qualifications
  • 16+ years of experience supporting insider risk, corporate security, counterintelligence, investigations, or cybersecurity operations.
  • Working knowledge of DLP technologies and user activity monitoring tools.
  • Experience managing or leading teams or programs.
  • Strong analytical, investigative, and communication skills.
  • Ability to translate technical issues into business risk language.
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with enterprise DLP platforms (e.g., Microsoft Purview, Zscaler, Symantec, etc.).
  • Background in cybersecurity operations, digital forensics, insider threat, or counterintelligence programs.
  • Experience in government contracting or regulated environments.
  • Familiarity with data analytics, automation, or scripting concepts.
  • Relevant certifications (CISSP, CISM, GCFE, CFE, etc.).

Target Salary Range$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations.
