The Nevada Automotive Test Center (NATC) is seeking a highly qualified Instrumentation Engineering Manager to join our team in Silver Springs, Nevada. At NATC, our instrumentation team plays a critical role in supporting the design, development, manufacturing, and testing of innovative automotive technologies and solutions. This position offers the opportunity to lead a skilled team in a dynamic environment dedicated to advancing vehicle performance, safety, and reliability.

POSITION SUMMARY : The Instrumentation Engineer Manager is responsible for leading and supervising a team of instrumentation technicians (and others as required) in the planning, installation, troubleshooting, and performance of quality control checks on a variety of instrumentation packages that may be installed on a myriad of vehicle platforms with the purpose of recording accurate, pertinent, and reliable data during testing and other project-related events. This position also works closely with engineering teams to develop and implement data collection requirements based on customer specifications.

The role oversees internal and external instrumentation engineering, sensor calibration, maintenance, and repair, ensuring all instrumentation projects meet NATC and industry standards. This position also provides QA/QC oversight for instrumentation installations, leads procedural and documentation development, and supports research and evaluation of new sensor and data acquisition technologies. Primary Functions : Possess knowledge of professional electronics engineering concepts, principles, practices, standards, methods, techniques, materials, and equipment to effectively apply advanced engineering theories, principles, and concepts to project development, execution, and advisory services Possess knowledge of development testing and evaluation sufficient to apply experimental theories and new applications to issues and provide technical advice and direction in support of systems, subsystems, and/or support equipment Possess the ability to devise and evaluate criteria, parameters, characteristics, and interrelationships for design approaches, and to assess the impact of new technology on current systems and processes Possess the ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy, both orally and in writing, as well as work in a professional manner with peers, management, contractors, academia, and other agencies Coordinates with other department managers to balance priorities and daily work scheduling.

Supervises instrumentation staff, including training, scheduling, technical guidance, and annual evaluations. Manages the department budget for labor, hardware usage, and quarterly projections. Develops, validates, and maintains calibration documentation in compliance with NATC QA requirements.

Performs QA/QC reviews of instrumentation installations for assets under test. Reviews test data and recommends sensor, acquisition, or data processing adjustments. Analyzes system performance to identify causes of instability or undesired operation.

Responds to inquiries and provides technical assistance regarding instrumentation systems. Secondary Functions : Assists with preparing, writing, and reviewing technical proposals and final reports. Applies electronic and instrumentation theory to establish design constraints for custom instrumentation.

Supports company electrical and electronic system development efforts or other assigned duties. Pay : $95,000 - $105,000
