Job description

Legal Administrative Assistant – Technology, Data Privacy & Cybersecurity

Birmingham, AL | Full-Time | Onsite

Direct Counsel represents an AmLaw 50 firm seeking an experienced Legal Administrative Assistant to support its Technology, Data Privacy & Cybersecurity Practice Group in Birmingham.

This is an excellent opportunity for a highly organized legal professional with strong administrative skills and an interest in technology, privacy, cybersecurity, and compliance matters.

The Role
  • Provide high-level administrative support to attorneys in the Technology, Data Privacy & Cybersecurity practice.
  • Manage confidential client documents, including privacy policies, data processing agreements, and regulatory filings.
  • Prepare and format legal documents, memoranda, presentations, and correspondence.
  • Manage attorney calendars, meetings, travel, and scheduling.
  • Track deadlines related to regulatory compliance and litigation matters.
  • Communicate with clients, vendors, and internal teams regarding documentation and administrative needs.
  • Support billing and attorney time-entry processes.
  • Provide general office support, including hospitality, front desk coverage, and daily office services.
  • Provide backup and overflow support to other administrative staff.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of legal administrative experience required, preferably in Big Law or a corporate legal environment.
  • Experience supporting attorneys in technology, privacy, cybersecurity, or compliance preferred.
  • Familiarity with GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, or other privacy regulations is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal document management systems, particularly iManage.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Strong professionalism and discretion when handling confidential information.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a team.
  • Paralegal certification or coursework in data privacy or technology law is a plus.
