Job description

As an Software Development Engineer (SDE) on the Workplace Trust Privacy and Responsible AI Review team, you will play a crucial role in building tooling to enhance compliance across Amazon's global employee, candidate, and contingent worker populations. Your focus will be designing and developing innovative Agentic AI solutions to automate compliance at scale. You'll work closely with stakeholders to align our processes and framework with global regulation requirements while maintaining high standards for privacy and AI compliance.
In this role, you'll collaborate daily with privacy and AI reviewers, builders, and legal stakeholders to understand their workflows and challenges. A typical day might involve analyzing process data to identify bottlenecks, developing and testing Agentic AI-powered solutions to automate tasks as part of privacy or responsible AI reviews. You'll participate in agile team meetings to discuss progress and priorities, review code with teammates, and continuously iterate to improve the performance of implemented solutions. Regular tasks include troubleshooting technical issues, updating documentation, and providing guidance to team members on new AI tools. You'll also spend time staying current with emerging regulations and AI developments, ensuring our tools remain compliant and effective.
The successful candidate leverages their background in compliance, engineering, data protection, data science, human resources, data governance, and/or data modelling to implement automation across the internal technology ecosystem.
Key job responsibilities
- Identify and analyze pain points in existing privacy and AI review processes
- Design and develop Agentic AI tools to streamline and enhance team operations
- Maintain high standards for global privacy and AI compliance
- Work with a dynamic team to implement solutions in a fast-paced environment
- Develop audit reports, metrics, and reporting mechanisms
- Define technical requirements and specifications aligned with business needs
- Develop deep knowledge of employee privacy and responsible AI obligations and data privacy processes
- Consult on the development of business requirements for new system and model implementations
- Draft written narratives to communicate development initiatives
- Implement automation across the internal technology ecosystem
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of AI solutions
- Stay current with emerging regulations and AI developments
- Provide technical guidance and support to team members
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
- 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience
- 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Knowledge of professional software engineering & best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operational excellence

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
