Job description

Position Title: Platform Engineer
Location: Huntsville, AL / Hybrid
Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship Required including Security Checks (Mandatory due to ITAR/CUI defense constraints).
Job Purpose:
The Platform Engineer will drive technical execution and operational excellence through the design, deployment, testing, maintenance, and enhancement of existing and next-generation, cloud-native ecosystems. This individual will be uniquely responsible for the secure administration, continuous patching, automated backup, and environment architecture of a highly restricted, air-gapped defense environment. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional infrastructure and database teams to implement a high-performance system capable of managing intricate structural hierarchies and complex lifecycle data.
Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve software applications
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features
  • Work with internal teams to understand user requirements and provide technical solutions
  • Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade existing software
  • Document and maintain software functionality
  • Stay up-to-date with new technologies and best practices

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Proven experience as a DevOps/Platform/Software Engineer, or similar role
  • Strong proficiency in one or more statically typed/compiled language such as Java, C#, Go
  • Strong proficiency in one or more dynamically typed/scripting languages such as Javascript, Typescript, Python or Bash
  • Experience with Git, GitLab, CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with cloud platforms
  • Experience with relational databases (Oracle preferred), Postgres
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think critically, from first principles
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and go above and beyond in their role

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with graph database such as Neo4j and with Cypher queries
  • Experience building and consuming REST and GraphQL APIs
  • Knowledge of protocols and standards like TCP, UDP, HTTP, HTTPS, SSH, sFTP, SSL and standards such as OIDC, SAML, AD, LDAP and Kerberos
  • Familiarity with containerization and IaC tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Docker Compose, Pulumi and others
  • Experience with cloud platforms (Google Cloud Platform preferred) and related services like GCE, GKE, Cloud Functions, PubSub, IAM, Cloud Scheduler, Cloud Storage, Big Query, Cloud Run
