Job Summary

The BI and Data Analytics Manager is responsible for managing the data, business intelligence and analytics for field operations. The role extracts data from multiple sources including work order systems to create dashboards, trends analysis, and business forecasts utilized by account and operations leaders. Critical activities include building and maintaining the BI environment to maximize data integrity, analyze performance, costs, and productivity measurements highlighting business trends and employs AI (Artificial Intelligence) assisted analytics and visualization tools for timely insight delivery. The position requires advanced knowledge and consistent exercise of discretion and judgement. The BI and Data Analytics Manager positively exemplifies BGIS values and ensures safety, health and environment standards are followed.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Business Intelligence and Data Analytics

  • Build and maintain KPI (Key Performance Indicator) dashboards providing business leaders real-time visibility into performance, SLA (Service Level Agreement) compliance, and team productivity measurements.
  • Analyze operational, financial, and productivity trends including SLA performance, decreased margin, and talent utilization, to identify root causes and forecast anticipated business success outcomes. 
  • Apply AI-powered data visualization and analytics tools to build dashboards more efficiently and highlight trends that may not be initially apparent to leaders reviewing multiple data sources.
  • Translate raw operational data into a clear narrative for non-technical stakeholders outlining the story behind the numbers.
  • Manage data integrity, reporting accuracy, distribution, and frequency updates creating valuable tools for business leaders decision making.
  • Conduct value analysis, identifies, develops, and recommends value creation and efficiency opportunities based on findings as well as understanding of client business strategy and needs. 
  • Develop road maps to achieve client requirements for greater value creation. Develop and recommend options to support the implementation of roadmaps. 
  • Contribute to the completion of other key initiatives as assigned.

Governance and Collaboration

  • Define data governance guidelines on the roles, policies, and tools to ensure proper data quality and usage throughout the data lifecycle including how data is collected, stored, used, and removed. 
  • Assign data stewards for critical client, location, and assets information, and establish certification requirements for data entry, editing, and retrieval. 
  • Champion change management with various internal audiences and adoption of platform and dashboard with reference materials, facilitation, and integrated feedback on performance of data tools.
  • Collaborate with business subject matter experts to identify and define relevant and flexible solutions adaptable to growth modeling. 
  • Develop and recommend formatting for tracking and reporting on achievement of client requirements.
  • Evaluate continuous improvement processes for data accuracy, completeness, and reliability.
  • Monitor security with restricting access to sensitive data and protecting it against breaches. 
  • Ensure compliance with internal regulations and external legal requirements regarding data handing.

Data Platform and Architecture

  • Maximize integration and utilization of current data platform evaluating architecture and best in class functionality to meet current and future business needs. 
  • Serve as primary point of contact for work order systems and other data collection points including internal knowledge sharing and external vendor management. 
  • Demonstrate understanding of business intelligence needs from multiple stakeholder groups to ensure overall calibrated focus on obtaining short term and long-term strategic objectives.
  • Define configuration of data collection points including user-defined fields, workflow automation, integrations, and system settings.
  • Evaluate capabilities of system elements and develop strategic roadmap for improvements through in-house capabilities with configuration and workflow mapping and external vendor development requirements. 
  • Lead project management focus to meet outlined scope, resource allocations, timelines, tracking, milestones, and results delivery with measurable results. 
  • Sponsor innovation initiatives through activities including, but not limited to, maintaining current awareness of industry trends and practices, conducting analysis, utilizing out-of-box thinking to develop and recommend forward facing solutions. 

Measurement and Reporting

  • Clarify measurable performance indicators and process for determining successes and areas for improvement. 
  • Communicate key metrics, client expectations, and service level requirements to various internal stakeholder groups. 
  • Compile, monitor, measure, analyze and report performance results.
  • Execute and deliver reporting for business review meetings and specific client requirements. 
  • Recommend potential solutions to remediate performance gaps addressing root causes and contributing to action plan development with business leaders. 
  • Provide responses to business requests and escalate for timely resolution as needed.

Business Metrics

  • Establish metrics, reporting, and accountability frameworks to track performance improvements. 
  • Input risk assessments to operations model and design.
  • Develop cost estimates including labor and resource allocations along with other key considerations.
  • Ensure daily business operations comply with regulatory standards including safety and environmental focus.
  • Deliver 0.5% annual cost savings annually across the business.
  • Report measurable improvements in productivity, service quality and customer satisfaction. 
  • Track increased adoption of standardized processes and systems. 
  • Champion organizational agility to reduce rework and improve inter-department communications.
  • Verify design and implementation of plans, policies, programs, and procedures meet quality standards, programs, and key performance indicators (KPIs) during operation of accounts.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Data Analytics, Information Systems, Business Administration or other relevant studies or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of strategic data analysis, business intelligence or reporting responsibilities. 
  • Experience in field service, commercial HVAC/mechanical, facilities operations, or other relevant industry knowledge is preferred.
  • Prior dashboard design and development experience with Power BI or similar Business Intelligence software. 
  • Ability to work with raw data to produce a finished dashboard independently. 
  • Exceptional business acumen with skills in trend analysis, forecasting, and root cause investigation. 
  • Expert level business and strategic analytical abilities.
  • Creative, innovative, out-of-the box thinker. 
  • Exceptional problem solving and solution identification and development abilities with broad perception and initiative to escalate potential risks to senior leaders. 
  • Advanced time management, organizational, and multi-tasking skills with ability to track deliverables across various stakeholder groups positively impacting success of completing business objectives. 
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication with ability to influence and persuade without authority. 
  • Proficiency in computer applications including Microsoft Office products and advance knowledge of reporting tools.
  • Expert knowledge of business analytics tools including Power BI (DAX, Power Query) and SQL/Snowflake and ability to leverage and/or quickly learn functionality of work order systems such as ServiceTitan, RealSuite, Astea (IFS Alliance), and Service Channel and demonstrate hands-on experience with configuration and administration. 
  • Ability to leverage AI for efficiency, analysis of large amounts of data, predictions, data visualization and analytics for consideration in business decisions. (Power BI Copilot, natural-language querying, AI assisted anomaly detection.)
  • Working knowledge of workflow automation tools like Zapier. 
  • Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation would be a plus.
