OVERVIEW
First Coast Security's Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) is seeking motivated undergraduate interns to join our Jacksonville, FL operations this summer. You'll work alongside experienced security professionals in a dynamic, technology-driven environment - gaining real-world exposure to enterprise security operations, threat monitoring, and the growing role of artificial intelligence in public and officer safety.
This internship is designed for students who are curious, analytically minded, and eager to apply their academic foundations to real operational challenges. You won't be watching from the sidelines - you'll contribute directly to projects that matter.
Semesters: Summer 2026, Fall 2026, Spring 2027
JOB DESCRIPTION
  • Monitor and analyze security feeds, alerts, and incident data in the GSOC environment
  • Support daily operations including access control oversight, camera monitoring, and situation reporting
  • Assist with data collection, cleaning, and preliminary analysis for operational metrics
  • Collaborate with GSOC analysts to identify trends in security incidents and response performance
  • Research and evaluate AI tools and platforms applicable to security operations
  • Participate in briefings, after-action reviews, and operational planning sessions
  • Develop and deliver your capstone project to the FCS executive committee

CAPSTONE ASSIGNMENT
Each intern will complete a capstone project and deliver a formal presentation to the FCS Executive Committee. Your capstone must demonstrate the application of artificial intelligence to solve a real security operations challenge.
Eligible Project Directions Include:
  • Building a new GSOC analytics dashboard for incident pattern visualization
  • Developing customized tooling to enhance public or officer safety outcomes
  • Creating AI-assisted workflows that improve threat detection or response times
  • Designing predictive models using historical security data
  • Proposing process improvements grounded in data-driven insights

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Currently enrolled in Criminal Justice or Criminology
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
  • Preferred:
    • Excel, Python, Tableau, or Power BI experience
    • Coursework in AI, machine learning, or data science
    • Background in security, law enforcement, or emergency management
