Located in Barrie and reporting to the Manager, IT Infrastructure, the incumbent provides technical design, implementation, and support services on a college wide LAN, WAN, Internet edge and cloud network infrastructure that is managed and maintained centrally.  The incumbent will enable and support information technology systems for academic and administrative services including telephone and data communications.  New installations, modifications, and repairs are researched, tested to determine best solution, planned and deployed. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

  •  Installing, maintaining, supporting, and administering hardware and software systems used for the college's network infrastructure including: routers; switches, firewalls, wireless APs and NAC solutions
  • Designing and deploying systems constrained by compliance standards such as PCI, Georgian procedures
  • Providing resolutions and final level support for issues escalated from front line support
  • Researching solutions, diagnosing problems and designing/modifying these systems where necessary, and developing new solutions as needed
  • Implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting above but focused on the college's telephony system which includes phone, conferencing and video services
  • Designing networking connectivity and support of the network operations in the cloud
  • Designing, configuring and deploying of UPS in the main campus as well as all the remote campuses
  • Maintaining current specialized knowledge of computer and communication hardware and software
  • Conducting presentations and training sessions for staff, students and colleagues
  • Implementing NAC solutions (ClearPass)
  • Architecting and implementing network security solutions (SIEM and NextGen Firewalls)

Qualifications:

  • Successfully completed a three-year postsecondary diploma/degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Engineering or another relevant field
  • CCNP - Cisco Certified Network Professional (Routing and Switching/Enterprise Infrastructure)
  • A minimum of five years' IT experience with designing, architecting and the deployment of a robust, redundant and high available network infrastructure
  • Experience with networking technologies including but not limited to routers, switches, firewalls, wireless Access Points. 
  • Strong understanding of the OSI reference model
