6 month contract - onsite downtown Calgary

This role represents the evolution of a traditional Database Administrator into a cloud-focused data and analytics specialist. The emphasis shifts from database maintenance, backups, patching, and infrastructure administration toward data analysis, query performance optimization, cloud database configuration, observability, troubleshooting, and platform enablement.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Strong SQL and data analysis capabilities across relational database platforms.
  • Experience optimizing queries, indexes, and workloads for cloud-hosted databases.
  • Knowledge of Azure SQL, Azure PostgreSQL, Oracle, or similar managed database services.
  • Experience with database monitoring, performance tuning, capacity planning, and operational triage.
  • Ability to analyze application data usage patterns and recommend improvements for scalability, performance, and cost optimization.
