Data migration projects often encounter challenges such as data quality issues, compatibility between source and target systems, and minimizing downtime during cutover. Teams typically address these by performing thorough data profiling and cleansing before migration, using robust mapping and validation tools to ensure data integrity, and scheduling migrations during low-usage periods to reduce business disruption. Close collaboration with stakeholders and IT teams is vital to identify potential risks early and resolve them efficiently.

What is a Data Migration Project?

A Data Migration Project involves transferring data from one system, storage type, or format to another. This process is often necessary during system upgrades, consolidation, or when moving data to the cloud. The goal is to ensure that all important data is moved securely, efficiently, and with minimal disruption to business operations. Data migration projects require careful planning, validation, and testing to avoid data loss or corruption and to maintain data integrity.
