Job description

HSC OR Research is looking for a qualified individual to join our team as the Research and Data Manager. This position will provide faculty and staff guidance on the National Institutes of Health (NIH) data management and sharing policy, data quality assurance/improvement, and ClinicalTrials.gov requirements. The fields of healthcare and life sciences are experiencing a fundamental shift toward transdisciplinary, integrative, and data-intensive approaches to research. These developments, coupled with the use of information technology platforms, are helping transform healthcare, achieving greater value alongside improved outcomes and safety. The complex data, information and knowledge needs associated with these changes require a comprehensive approach to necessary data sharing, data management and storage, data quality assurance and transparency of research findings. The Research Data and Informatics Manager direct duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Provides leadership and coordination in the development of the HSC Research Data and Informatics Unit and its processes and procedures.  Ensure that the storage and management of research data at the HSC is in compliance with federal regulations.
  • Evaluates statistics and metrics to identify trends, existing and/or developing problems related to data storage and management compliance; makes recommendations to the Research Compliance Officer on corrective actions plans or programs designed to address identified problems.
  • Oversees the conduct of periodic internal reviews or audits of HSC data storage and management.
  • Oversees the conduct of periodic internal reviews or audits of HSC research that does not have another oversight body (basic science, not human subject or animal research).
  • Provides compiled annual reports and analysis of internal audits to the Research Compliance Officer and VPR.
  • Oversees the development and delivery of targeted training programs and materials based on audit results or requests for training, as well as on changes to legislative, statutory, and/or University requirements.
