Competitive Intelligence Data Specialist


OVERVIEW:

Our Client is looking for talented, and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Data Specialist for Competitive Intelligence. In this role the individual will be responsible for reviewing, monitoring, and reporting competitive coverage for a defined set of categories. The individual will help to build scalable solutions and tools to provide ongoing reporting accurately and efficiently for competitive match rates and composition.

As part of the Competitive Intelligence team, you will analyze data to provide insights to support various Merchandising initiatives. We are looking for someone who is comfortable getting into data and understanding patterns and performance to summarize and present to business stakeholders. The right candidate will be passionate about working with large datasets and should be someone who loves to bring data together to answer complex business questions that deepen our understanding of our competitors.

The ideal candidate will have a background in analyzing and deriving insights from data by using Excel, SQL, and business intelligence tools (e.g. Tableau). A successful candidate should have the technical proficiency to leverage software tools and reports and the business proficiency to summarize their findings.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create metrics and visualizations to monitor competitive data for completeness, accuracy, and integrity. Provide insight into competitive data coverage and composition.
  • Review and evaluate competitive matches, ensure alignment to competitive matching tenets.
  • Identify, understand, and recommend solutions for competitive data match processes.
  • Partner with Business Analysts to understand competitive matching strategy and philosophy to create documentation and match review guidelines/training materials.
  • Troubleshoot data feed issues as needed.
  • Work cross-functionally in order to proactively and systematically identify and implement any enhancements to reporting and analytics processes.
  • Additional duties as assigned or required.


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, or similar
  • 1+ years of experience in Data Science, Business Analytics, Business Intelligence, or comparable research role, including use of business intelligence tools.
  • Exceptional Microsoft Excel skills and knowledge required.
  • Strong SQL skills desirable for data analysis, structuring, transforming, and visualizing big data.
  • Highly motivated to develop expertise in industry trends and the use of data and analytics to recommend better competitive positioning.
  • Strong attention to detail, and excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Ability to present ideas, conclusions and recommendations with clarity. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Solid public speaking skills; able to present ideas to diverse audiences.
  • Experience with audience-tailored data visualizations using BI tools/packages, such as Tableau preferred.
