Role Description
SMBC is driving a major Digital Transformation initiative across its Americas Division, with a strong focus on modernizing technology platforms, enhancing data-driven decision-making, and supporting business growth. As part of this transformation, we are seeking a talented Data Analyst to join the Regulatory Reporting & CCAR Technology Team.
The Data Analyst will play a critical role in analyzing business and data requirements, designing data solutions, and supporting the implementation of technology initiatives that automate and enhance Regulatory Reporting and CCAR reporting processes.
Key Responsibilties
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather, analyze, and validate data requirements for CCAR and Regulatory Reporting initiatives.
  • Partner closely with Data Management teams to identify, source, and onboard data required for regulatory and stress testing reporting.
  • Perform data mapping, data lineage analysis, gap assessments, and current-state versus future-state analysis.
  • Create and maintain functional specification documents, data mapping artifacts, business requirements, and data lineage documentation.
  • Work with development teams to translate business requirements into functional and technical specifications and support solution implementation.
  • Analyze existing business processes and identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and operational efficiencies.
  • Conduct detailed data analysis and support Unit Testing, Quality Assurance (QA), and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities.
  • Participate in the resolution of data quality issues and support data governance initiatives.

Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of Banking and Financial Services, including Regulatory Reporting and CCAR reporting (FR Y-14A, FR Y-14M, and FR Y-14Q).
  • Solid understanding of banking products, including Loans, Securities, Deposits, and Derivatives.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate findings and recommendations to senior management and business stakeholders.
  • Experience working with both Agile and Waterfall project delivery methodologies.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools, including SQL, Python, Microsoft Excel, Tableau, Visio, and Jira.
  • Experience with Databricks and modern cloud-based data platforms is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of data governance, data quality management, data validation, data reconciliation, and data lineage concepts.
  • Familiarity with regulatory reporting controls, audit requirements, and enterprise data management practices.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, regulatory-driven environment.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience supporting Regulatory Reporting, CCAR/Stress Testing, Treasury, Finance, or Risk Management initiatives within the banking industry.
  • Hands-on experience with large-scale data integration, data warehousing, and regulatory reporting platforms.
  • Experience performing data sourcing, data mapping, reconciliations, controls validation, and root cause analysis for reporting and compliance requirements.
  • Understanding of end-to-end regulatory reporting processes and associated data governance frameworks.
