Position Overview
The Data Center Deployment Technician II is a mid-level role requiring 2-3 years of hands-on data center experience. This position is responsible for the full lifecycle of structured cabling tasks, including labeling, bundling, dressing, porting, and Quality Control / Quality Assurance for fiber optic and copper cabling.
Data Center Deployment Technician II team members are expected to work independently, follow client standards, and support project leadership by ensuring work is completed accurately and efficiently. This role also supports and mentors Level I technicians as needed.
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform end-to-end labeling of fiber optic and copper cables in accordance with client standards and drawings.
  • Bundle, dress, and route cables to meet data center best practices and client specifications.
  • Port and connect cables to panels, switches, and hardware per design documentation.
  • Ensure proper cable management, bend radius, slack, and overall presentation.
  • Perform QC/QA checks on assigned work to confirm:
  • Accurate and consistent labeling at both ends.
  • Correct port placement per documentation.
  • Proper cable dressing, routing, and bundling.
  • No visible cable damage, breaks, or compromised jackets.
  • Identify, document, and report discrepancies or issues to project leadership.
  • Work independently or as part of a team to meet project schedules.
  • Provide guidance and on-the-job support to Level I technicians.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area that meets client and safety standards.
  • Follow all site safety protocols and PPE requirements

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2-3 years of hands-on data center experience.
  • Proven experience with fiber optic and copper structured cabling.
  • Experience labeling, bundling, dressing, and porting cables in live or production data center environments.
  • Ability to read and follow drawings, scope documents, and labeling standards.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in data center environments (raised floors, equipment aisles).

Preferred (Not Required):
  • OSHA 10 certification.
  • Experience working in large-scale or enterprise data centers.
  • Prior experience mentoring junior technicians.
  • Military, trade school, or technical training background.
