Job Description

Business Intelligence/Data Warehouse Architect position will contribute to the company's success by performing a key role in designing, building and supporting our enterprise Business Intelligence architecture including Data Warehouse, Data Mart and Reporting Solutions which enable key business users to make solid business decisions.

Responsibilities:

  1. Define Business Intelligence Strategy based on current business and information technology realties.  Define, design, and implement Business Intelligence (BI) strategies for operational, ad-hoc, and other BI related solutions.
  2. Work directly with IT and business users to facilitate, define and document data requirements as the foundation for data base design, data extraction, analysis and cleansing.
  3. Assist in the definition, documentation and development of mapping rules for movement of data from desperate data sources and into the various components and subject areas of the BI environment.
  4. Create data models including robust data definitions, entity-relationship-attribute models, as well as relational and/or dimensional models.
  5. Work closely with DBAs to transition logical models to physical implementation of data structures.
  6. Design and implement Business Intelligence, information quality & information management governance.
  7. Provide hands-on data modeling (relational and dimensional) for Data Warehouse/Data Marts and overall BI environment.
  8. Provide best practices and guidance regarding use of ETL, data modeling (relational and dimensional), and reporting deliverables.
  9. A good understanding of the design and development of complex business reports.
  10. Ability to understand and support legacy solutions and reports while migrating to a long term strategy.
  11. Work in a small team environment with Project Managers, Database Administrators, Systems Engineers, Business Analysts, and internal business users.
  12. Design and build complex relational data structures.
  13. Work with technical and business users to understand requirements then identify, and design multiple solution options as well as determine and recommend a right-sized approach.
  14. Develop strategies for data acquisition, archive recovery, and enterprise level database implementation.
  15. Develop and build comprehensive data validation and error processes as a component within the "End to End" BI solution architecture.
Qualifications
  1. Minimum 5 years of experience of ETL development with Informatica PowerCenter
  2. Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent education and/or experience.
  3. Minimum 8 years of experience in delivering Business Intelligence solutions.
  4. Minimum 8 years of experience with Relational and Dimensional Modeling.
  5. Must have UNIX OS knowledge including intermediate shell scripting experience.
  6. Minimum 5 years of experience with CA Erwin. (Model Manager or CA MM preferred in addition)
  7. Minimum 4 years of experience with Oracle.
  8. Significant experience with design, development, and maintenance of enterprise level data systems such as Oracle and SQL Server.
  9. In-depth expertise with data security, storage solutions, database virtualization and replication.
  10. Expert level SQL skills.
  11. Strong understanding of reporting tools such as Business Objects suite of products (desktop client, WebIntelligence, Designer, Supervisor, Broadcast Agent, InfoView).
  12. Understanding of Business Objects Enterprise XI R3 architecture.  Experience building BO Universes a plus.
  13. Working knowledge of relational database design, logical data modeling, data warehousing, and relational database management systems preferably Oracle 9i/10G/11x
  14. Knowledge of Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing concepts and proven experience delivering both.
  15. Expert knowledge of ETL concepts, development, and experience.
  16. Proven analytical skills and problem solving ability.
  17. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  18. Demonstrated time management and prioritization skills.
  19. Strong interpersonal skills.  Ability to influence without authority.  Good liaison skills and negotiation capabilities.
  20. Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
