About the Data Analyst, Healthcare Analytics:

The Data Analyst, Health Analytics supports the organization's analytical, financial, and operational objectives through the analysis of complex data and the delivery of actionable insights that inform business strategy, client performance evaluation, pricing activities, financial forecasting, and operational decision-making. This role partners closely with Health Analytics, Finance, Actuarial, and other business stakeholders to evaluate program performance, assess client value, and support strategic initiatives.  The Data Analyst, Health Analytics is responsible for developing and maintaining analytical models, dashboards, reports, and automated data solutions that enhance data accessibility, operational efficiency, and decision-making. Leveraging expertise in data analysis, business intelligence, and reporting technologies, this position transforms complex data into meaningful insights while ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of analytical outputs

This position is eligible for remote work, but quarterly travel will be required to Avalon's corporate office located in Tampa, Florida.

Data Analyst, Healthcare Analytics – Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain SQL queries, scripts, stored procedures, and analytical solutions.
  • Analyze structured and unstructured data to identify trends, patterns, opportunities, and actionable insights.
  • Design, develop, maintain, and enhance dashboards, reports, and visualizations using Tableau and other business intelligence platforms.
  • Utilize Snowflake to support data preparation, modeling, analysis, automation, and scalable reporting solutions.
  • Develop, enhance, and maintain analytical models supporting underwriting, pricing, forecasting, client value assessment, business performance measurement, and strategic initiatives.
  • Perform data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) activities to support analytical and operational business needs.
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize automated jobs, workflows, scheduled processes, and reporting solutions that improve operational efficiency and data accessibility.
  • Perform data validation, reconciliation, and quality assurance activities to ensure the accuracy, consistency, integrity, and reliability of analytical outputs.
  • Analyze client performance, program outcomes, and financial trends to identify opportunities for improvement and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Leverage AI-enabled analytics tools, natural language querying capabilities, and emerging technologies to enhance productivity and analytical processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into scalable analytical solutions.
  • Present findings, recommendations, and insights to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Support ad hoc analyses, special projects, and strategic initiatives as assigned.

Data Analyst, Healthcare Analytics – Minimum Qualifications:

  • Strong SQL development, data analysis, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working with large datasets and performing data extraction, transformation, validation, reconciliation, and visualization activities.
  • Experience supporting analytical models, reporting solutions, or business performance measurement initiatives.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis, reporting, and problem-solving.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and communication skills, with the ability to present findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Data Analyst, Healthcare Analytics – Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Snowflake, Tableau, Power BI, or similar analytics and business intelligence platforms.
  • Experience with ETL processes, data automation, workflow development, or cloud-based analytics environments.
  • Experience developing and maintaining automated jobs, workflows, or reporting solutions.
  • Experience with Python, GitHub, AI-enabled analytics tools, or related technologies.
  • Healthcare analytics experience preferred but not required.
