They focus on creating scalable and reliable data pipelines, ensuring data is accessible and secure, and integrating data from various sources. Their work enables data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to efficiently use data for decision-making and analytics. Data Infrastructure Engineers often work with tools like Hadoop, Spark, and cloud platforms, and play a critical role in supporting modern data-driven businesses.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a data infrastructure engineer?

To thrive as a Data Infrastructure Engineer, you need a solid background in computer science, experience with database management, and expertise in building and optimizing data pipelines, often supported by a relevant degree. Additional Skills & Qualifications

We are seeking a senior-level, hands-on engineer. It's a generalist but the big ticket item is enterprise Linux experience. Someone who builds things, not just maintains them. The Must-Haves Real Enterprise Linux Experience: Someone who has actually designed and supported Linux in a corporate setting. Candidates have to know how to make Linux sync with Active Directory. Azure Skills: The team has a gap here. They need someone who can build out their Azure environment from the ground up โ€“ IaaS and PaaS, networking. Bonus if someone has experience with Azure VDI since they want to ditch their on-prem Citrix. Automation: The team is lean, so they automate everything they can. They're rolling out Ansible right now, so experience there is a big plus. The Fun Stuff (The Projects) This is not a boring job. The new person will get to: Finish the Ansible Rollout: Get Ansible Tower fully stood up and start creating playbooks for everything. Build the Azure Environment: This is a 2025 project to create their Azure presence from scratch. Move a Data Center: Get involved in planning and executing a data center move next year. Figure out the VMware Situation: Help research and choose a new hypervisor now that Broadcom is changing things up. Logistics: In the Office: 3 days a week.
