Job Description:

The Recurring Telestration Producer (Event) supports live sports broadcasts by creating compelling visual analysis that enhances storytelling and helps viewers better understand game strategy, player performance, and key moments. This role works closely with producers, directors, replay operators, announcers, and analysts to identify impactful plays and develop real-time and pre-produced telestration content using advanced sports analysis technology.

The ideal candidate combines deep sports knowledge with technical production expertise and the ability to execute under the demands of fast-paced live broadcast environments.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the creative development and execution of telestration content for assigned remote sports telecasts and live events.
  • Collaborate with Coordinating Producers, Directors, Talent, Replay Operators, Graphics Operators, and Event Operations teams to develop compelling visual storytelling.
  • Identify impactful plays, trends, and strategic moments that warrant enhanced analysis.
  • Build and execute pregame, in-game, halftime, and postgame telestration packages.
  • Operate telestration and replay systems such as Vizrt Libero, Chyron Paint, EVS, or similar technologies.
  • Select, edit, and prepare video clips from multiple feeds and camera angles for live and pre-produced analysis.
  • Create and apply graphics, animations, arrows, routes, formations, player highlights, and other visual enhancements to support analysis and storytelling.
  • Support on-air talent by providing insightful visual analysis tools that enhance viewer understanding of game strategy and key moments.
  • Manage the preparation and organization of telestration assets, workflows, and production elements prior to live events.
  • Work closely with ESPN internal departments, external partners, vendors, and freelance personnel to ensure successful event execution.
  • Ensure all telestration elements are accurate, visually compelling, and delivered within live production deadlines.
  • Maintain awareness of emerging production technologies, graphics capabilities, and industry best practices.
  • Troubleshoot technical and operational issues related to telestration, replay, and graphics systems.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of production workflows, storytelling techniques, and audience engagement strategies.
  • Travel and support on-site event operations as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of sports, sports history, game strategy, and athlete performance.
  • Strong appreciation of sports culture, emerging trends, and audience interests.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and produce compelling sports analysis and live-event content from concept through execution.
  • Working knowledge of real-time sports production workflows, graphics systems, replay operations, and telestration technologies.
  • Established knowledge of technological advances in animation, video editing, graphics, replay, and telestration tools.
  • Good understanding of ESPN's market positioning, content strategy, and audience expectations.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in fast-paced live production environments.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to collaborate across multiple departments and stakeholders to execute successful productions.
  • Experience supporting major professional, collegiate, or international sports broadcasts.
  • Advanced proficiency with Vizrt Libero, Chyron Paint, EVS, Ross Video, Adobe Creative Cloud, or similar production technologies.
  • Experience creating advanced telestration packages and visual analysis for live sports programming.
  • Experience working directly with announcers, analysts, and on-air talent.
  • Experience within remote and REMI production environments.
  • Familiarity with sports analytics, player tracking systems, and data visualization tools.
  • Experience producing content across multiple sports properties, including football, basketball, baseball, hockey, tennis, and other live-event programming.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and build strong relationships with production, operations, engineering, and freelance personnel.

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
