Responsibilities
Serve as a data governance subject matter expert in developing a comprehensive data governance strategy and implementation plan for the Mission Services Headquarters.
  • Perform a risk analysis to identify potential data risks and vulnerabilities and propose risk mitigation strategies.
  • Create a comprehensive inventory of the organization's data assets.
  • Assess the quality of existing data and identify areas for improvement.
  • Design a tailored data governance framework that aligns with the organization's objectives and culture.
  • Define roles and responsibilities for data management.
  • Map out the data lifecycle from creation to archival or deletion.
  • Define processes for data retention and disposal.
  • Assess current data security measures and propose enhancements.
  • Develop a strategy for protecting sensitive data.
  • Ensure alignment with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop training programs to educate employees on data governance principles.
  • Raise awareness about the importance of data management.
  • Develop a change management plan to facilitate the adoption of new data governance practices.
  • Address cultural and organizational barriers to change.
  • Establish a process for reviewing and obtaining approval for the proposed data governance framework and policies.
  • Incorporate feedback from key stakeholders.
  • Develop a phased implementation roadmap for the data governance initiatives.
  • Prioritize tasks based on their impact and feasibility.
  • Document all aspects of the data governance framework and policies.
  • Provide knowledge transfer sessions to enable the client to manage and maintain the data governance structure independently.
  • Design a continuous improvement plan to regularly review and enhance the data governance framework.
  • Establish mechanisms for ongoing support and collaboration.
  • Consider legal and ethical implications of data governance.
  • Ensure that the proposed data governance framework aligns with the organization's values and legal obligations.

Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Information Management, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • TS/SCI with polygraph required.
  • Relevant certifications in Data Governance, such as Certified Information Management Professional (CIMP), Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), or similar certifications.
  • Proven experience working in the field of Data Governance, Information Management, or a related area.
  • In-depth understanding of data protection and privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA) and the ability to ensure compliance within an organization.
  • Strong knowledge of data management principles, including data quality, metadata management, data classification, and data lifecycle management.
  • Ability to conduct risk assessments related to data and develop strategies for risk mitigation.
  • Familiarity with data management tools and technologies.
  • Knowledge of database systems, data modeling, and data integration.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong documentation skills for creating policies, procedures, and reports.
  • Ability to analyze data governance requirements and translate them into actionable plans.
  • Awareness of legal and ethical considerations related to data, including issues of confidentiality, security, and data ownership.
  • Understanding of the industry or sector in which the organization operates, including specific data governance challenges and opportunities.

Target Salary Range: $130,000-$160,000
