Job description

  • 5 days a week, in office, 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday (1 hour off for lunch or work through lunch and receive OT hour)
  • Pay: Full-time hourly employee; 40 hours a week guaranteed, rate based on experience, overtime after 8 hours in a day/40 hours in a week, paid sick and vacation time, health insurance, annuity and pension paid by employer on employees behalf.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Strong computer skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel, photo and/or video-editing software required. Knowledge in Quickbooks is preferred.
  • Previous experience in office administration, bookkeeping, or a similar role preferred, but not required.
  • Proven organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to be flexible and adapt to rapid changes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
  • Knowledge of labor unions, including experience in community, political, or social activism related to workers' rights, is a plus.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform data entry, including updating member and referral records, inputting wage and benefit information, and processing payments.
  • Manage daily administrative tasks, including phone calls, visitor greetings, staff and officer support, bookkeeping, job dispatching, and maintaining an updated contract list.
  • Maintain office supplies, office equipment, and organized record-keeping, including email and address lists, filing documents, and making copies.

  • Develop familiarity with the union's venues, employers, members, referrals, and contracts.
