Job description

Workday HRIS Analyst / Workday Configuration Specialist

About the Role

Summa Staffing is partnering with a well-known national retail organization headquartered in the Katy, Texas area to identify a Workday HRIS Analyst / Workday Configuration Specialist.

This role requires hands-on Workday configuration experience. Candidates must be able to describe specific examples of functionality they have personally configured inside Workday, such as business processes, workflows, approvals, notifications, security, reporting, calculated fields, dashboards, or related platform configuration. This is not a general HR, recruiting, benefits administration, or Workday end-user role.

This is not a general HR role. We are looking for someone with real Workday system ownership and configuration experience.

What You’ll Be Doing

In this role, you will support and enhance the organization’s Workday environment by partnering with HR, Payroll, Benefits, Talent, IT, and business stakeholders. You will help maintain system functionality, troubleshoot issues, support process improvements, and assist with configuration changes that improve the employee and HR user experience.

Responsibilities may include:

Configure and support Workday business processes, workflows, approvals, notifications, and system rules.

Partner with HR and business users to gather requirements and translate them into Workday solutions.

Support testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and ongoing system maintenance.

Assist with Workday reporting, dashboards, data validation, and process improvement initiatives.

Help evaluate current Workday processes and recommend ways to simplify or improve functionality.

Support Workday updates, enhancements, and release-related testing.

Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure Workday is aligned with business and HR operational needs.

Maintain strong data integrity, documentation, and process discipline.

What We’re Looking For

The strongest candidates will have hands-on Workday configuration experience and be comfortable discussing specific examples of what they personally configured.

Ideal experience includes:

Hands-on Workday HRIS, HCM, or related Workday configuration experience.

Experience configuring business processes, workflows, approvals, notifications, or security within Workday.

Ability to gather requirements from HR/business stakeholders and translate them into system changes.

Experience supporting testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and user acceptance testing.

Strong understanding of HR processes and how they are supported inside Workday.

Experience with Workday reporting, calculated fields, dashboards, integrations, or security is a plus.

Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical system concepts to non-technical HR users.

Detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable supporting a fast-moving business environment.

Important Fit Note

This position requires more than being a Workday end user. Candidates who have only used Workday for recruiting, benefits administration, HR transactions, employee data entry, or general HR support may not be the right fit unless they have also personally configured Workday functionality.

A strong candidate should be able to say something like:

“I personally configured workflows, business processes, approvals, or related functionality inside Workday.”

Compensation

Estimated salary range: $90,000 – $100,000, depending on experience and overall fit.

Work Authorization

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. This position is not eligible for H-1B sponsorship, transfer, or other employment-based visa sponsorship.

Equal Employment Opportunity

Summa Staffing is an Equal Opportunity Employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, genetic information, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other legally protected status.
