Summary:

A Staff Accountant I at Pacific Seafood prepares, analyzes, and reconciles routine financial data in accordance with pre-determined guidelines to support the functions of the accounting department at their location. This role is ideal for people with strong attention to detail and solid knowledge of accounting principles.  

Key Responsibilities
1. General Ledger Management and Transaction Processing:
  • Prepare and record daily financial transactions to the general ledger in a timely and accurate manner, covering areas such as Accounts Receivable (A/R), Accounts Payable (A/P), and inventory.
  • Process Purchase Orders (PO) and receive product invoices, ensuring accurate Accounts Payable entry.
  • Assist with overseeing APC/AS400 product inventories, ensuring accurate tracking and valuation.
2. Compliance and Reconciliation:
  • Prepare and post journal entries, including all appropriate backup information, to ensure accuracy and completeness of the financial records.
  • Prepare reconciliations of balance sheet accounts for management review each period, identifying and resolving discrepancies.
  • Ensure compliance with all necessary tax forms, registrations, licenses, etc., overseeing their accurate preparation and submission.
3. Financial Planning and Analysis Support:
  • Assist in the preparation of financial analysis, presentations, and research as assigned, providing critical support for strategic decision-making.
  • Contribute to the annual budget preparation process, as assigned, supporting the development of accurate and realistic financial plans.
Additional responsibilities may be assigned as deemed necessary to support the overall goals and objectives of the position.

What you bring to Pacific Seafood
Required:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field from an accredited institution
  • 2-4 years of experience in accounting, or a related role. 
  • Proficient experience using accounting software, Word and Excel.
Preferred:
  • Accounting Certification
Physical Requirements:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the team member:
  • Must be available to work Monday–Friday during regular working hours, with occasional weekend duties.
  • Ability to maintain a stationary position 80% of the time, with intermittent walking, standing, bending, reaching, and/or crawling.
  • Ability to move and transport documents, equipment, or other items weighing up to 50 pounds across various locations for different team members, departments, and events.
  • Capable of occasional travel as required by duties, demonstrating efficiency and effectiveness in diverse locations.
  • Capable of operating a computer and other office productivity machinery, including a calculator, copy machine, and printer.
  • Capable of frequently communicating with team members and stakeholders, accurately conveying detailed or important spoken instructions.
  • Capable of perceiving visuals for activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing a computer screen, and engaging in extensive reading.
