Summary of Duties

As a Support Staff Specialist, you will:

This position actively seeks to provide culturally appropriate services where individuals are treated respectfully, compassionately, and effectively in a manner that recognizes, affirms, and values the worth of individuals, families, and communities, protecting and preserving the dignity of each. This includes culture, language, national origin, class, race, age, ethnic background, disability, state of development, religion, gender, sexual orientation, and other difference/diversity factors.

  • Reviews electronic and paper documents to identify proper coding of documents to electronic claim folder by using DCPS and Electronic Disability Case System (EDCS) to determine which of hundreds of codes to assign to document.

  • Use high-speed scanning equipment and software program to image documents into electronic folders.

  • Responsible for quality checks by ensuring documents are legible, in correct page order, deleting any blank pages that are not required to be in claim folder, and electronically rotating documents as necessary.

  • Ensures documents, images, tracings, or photos that are received in color are scanned as color.

  • Assists with electronic queues that house large volumes of electronic documents that were incorrectly uploaded by medical providers, or received without a barcoded coversheet, from medical providers, claimants, field offices and national scanning contractors.

  • Assist with looking up invoices, uploading the invoices to the MER and CE queues for the Accounts Payable delivering invoices from the post office.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3 months of full-time experience in data entry or word processing.

    • Experience should include operating electronic data entry or word processing equipment to input information from source documents; AND
      a typing speed of at least 45 words per minute.

  • Completion of an established data entry training course using electronic data entry equipment may be substituted for up to three months of experience.

Working Conditions

  • Your work schedule will be 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday-FridayPacific Standard Time (PST). Occasional overtime may be available.

  • Travel may be required to meet business needs or to attend employee training classes.

  • Must possess a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record to use state vehicles. Reasonable accommodations per the ADA or creative solutions in certain cases may be used to meet this need.

  • This position is assigned to the Central Office and will be working in an office environment in-person. The office is constructed of cubicles, so work is often interrupted, and noise levels are sometimes high.

  • You may be required to lift up to 50 lbs. for the purpose of placing boxes of paper onto carts.

  • Youwillinteract with a wide range of people, including some who have experienced traumaandmayexhibitchallenges in controlling their emotions.

  • You mayencounterstressful situations that require quick decision-making to ensure safety ofyourself and others.

  • Fast paced environment with constantly evolving policies and procedures.

  • Repetitive motions, prolonged sitting, and daily computer and technology use.

  • High volume of computer work/keyboarding in a fast-paced team environment.
