Job description

Job Title: LPN Research Coordinator
Department: Precision Medicine/ GenoWell
Location: 100 Kings Highway South Rochester, NY
Hours Per Week: 40
Schedule: Monday-Friday 8a-430p
SUMMARY
The Research Coordinator supports the implementation of the Helix GenoWell program within the health system's precision medicine department. This role coordinates research activities, participant engagement, and data management while ensuring compliance with regulatory and ethical standards. Reporting to the Director, Precision Medicine, the Research Coordinator collaborates with Helix, clinicians, and research stakeholders to support the successful integration of precision medicine initiatives into clinical and research workflows.
WHAT IS GENOWELL?
GenoWell is Rochester Regional Health's innovative precision medicine program, developed in partnership with Helix, a leading population genomics company. Through no-cost genetic screening, GenoWell helps patients gain valuable insights into how their DNA may impact their health, empowering them and their healthcare providers to make more personalized care decisions.
As part of the GenoWell team, you'll have the unique opportunity to combine your clinical skills with patient education, community engagement, and emerging genomic medicine. This role allows LPNs to build meaningful relationships with patients, contribute to groundbreaking healthcare advancements, and play an important part in shaping the future of personalized medicine for our communities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Coordinate daily research activities, including participant recruitment, enrollment, and study documentation.
  • Collaborate with the Director, Precision Medicine, clinicians, researchers, and operational teams to support Helix initiatives and research protocols.
  • Ensure studies remain on track and comply with regulatory, IRB, and organizational requirements.
  • Educate participants on precision medicine and genomic testing, obtain informed consent, and address questions or concerns.
  • Manage research data collection and documentation, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and data integrity.
  • Support the integration and utilization of genomic data in collaboration with IT and Helix representatives.
  • Promote participant engagement through outreach, education, and community engagement activities.
  • Serve as a resource for care teams and research staff regarding Helix and precision medicine programs.
  • Coordinate stakeholder meetings and assist with reports, presentations, and dissemination of research findings.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree in a health related field and 2+ years of experience in either clinical practice or research studies
OR
• Associate's (or practical nurse diploma) degree in a health related field and 4+ years of experience in either clinical practice or research studies required.
• Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., clinical research, genomics, or public health) preferred.
LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS
• Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) Program training required within 30 days of hire.
PREFERRED SKILLS
  • Clinical experience in a healthcare setting, particularly involving direct patient interaction, education, and follow-up care.
  • Experience working within Epic, with knowledge of referrals, documentation workflows, and reporting functions strongly preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage patients, answer questions, discuss results, and coordinate follow-up care.
  • Interest in and enthusiasm for community outreach, patient education, and relationship building.
  • Ability to represent GenoWell at community events, identify new outreach opportunities, and support recruitment and engagement initiatives.
  • Flexibility to attend occasional community events and outreach activities outside of standard business hours.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and comfortable working in a collaborative environment with a small team.
  • Demonstrated interest in precision medicine, genomics, or clinical research programs preferred.
  • Familiarity with GenoWell's mission and services is highly desirable.
