Job description

Phlebotomy Tech - Traveler (Nights)
Position Summary
The Certified Phlebotomy Technician I performs skin puncture and venipuncture on patients of all ages to obtain blood specimens for analysis in the clinical laboratory in Redding, CA. The technician works under the supervision of the Laboratory Director, Manager, or Supervisor and processes specimens across multiple laboratory disciplines. The role includes specimen processing, data entry, and related clerical support of laboratory operations. This is a traveler assignment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform skin puncture and venipuncture to collect specimens from newborn to geriatric patients using proper technique and equipment
  • Process microbiology, immunology, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, chemistry, and blood bank specimens
  • Process specimens for referral to reference laboratories
  • Load and process specimens on automated laboratory instrumentation per established policies and procedures
  • Perform computer data entry, filing, and telephone communication
  • Stock supplies and maintain cleanliness of storage areas, trays, centrifuges, refrigerators, freezers, and work areas
  • Assist with sample pickup, sorting, and other laboratory support tasks as assigned
Qualifications
  • California Certified Phlebotomy Technician I (CPT I); must meet California state certification requirements to work in the clinical laboratory
  • Adequate knowledge of laboratory test terminology
  • Proficiency in phlebotomy technique and specimen-collection equipment
  • Minimum 2 years of recent experience required
