Job description

The Clerk 4-Data Quality is responsible and accountable for ensuring data quality of the electronic patient information health records system. The incumbent will identify data quality issues; conduct audits and review regularly scheduled reports, in order to process duplicates and overlaps in the Master Patient Index; retrieve, file and merge patient charts; correct complex registration errors; maintain a tracking log of duplicates and overlaps processed.
The Clerk 4 is responsible for ensuring the established protocol for proactive auditing is being met to maintain compliance with the law. The Clerk 4 also acts as a subject matter expert in patient registration transactions and will assist in the testing, maintenance, and rollout of new health information systems.  The Clerk will maintain and promote the confidentiality and security of personal health information at all times.
  1. Graduate of a recognized Health information Program or equivalent
  2. Certified with Canadian College of Health Information Management and must be an active member in good standing (If applicable)
  3. Minimum 1 year of experience providing data quality management, or data quality improvement in a patient records/healthcare environment or recent related experience in a hospital or medical setting, preferably in a Patient Registration or Health Records environment
  4. Able to perform patient chart research and data analysis, with the use of various computer software systems
  5. Demonstrated knowledge of health information systems and database management (Ex. Meditech, Quanum, Epic) 
  6. Demonstrated excellent analytical and problem-solving skills 
  7. Demonstrated proficiency in typing (minimum 45wpm) 
  8. Demonstrated excellent organizational skills and the ability for detail work 
  9. Demonstrated ability to work efficiently under minimal supervision
  10. Demonstrated ability to maintain patient confidentiality
