Job description

Leapros Skilled Trades is actively hiring Data Center Technician in Council Bluffs, IA. The Data Center Technician (Level 3) is responsible for supporting a large-scale fiber project, focusing on high-density patching and bundled fiber installations. This role requires a skilled professional capable of executing precise connectivity tasks from patch panels to devices within a mission-critical environment.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $30 to $32 Per Hour BOE

Responsibilities:

  • Perform large-scale fiber patching including patch panel to patch panel, patch panel to device, and device to device connections.
  • Install, route, and secure bundled fiber cabling according to project design specifications.
  • Execute high-volume cable management tasks to ensure organized and efficient fiber infrastructure.
  • Utilize advanced fiber skills to ensure signal integrity and proper termination across the data center.
  • Adhere to strict labeling and documentation standards for all newly installed fiber runs.
  • Support the deployment of network devices by establishing necessary fiber connectivity.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work environment within the data center floor and cabling areas.
  • Follow all project-specific safety protocols and organizational guidelines for infrastructure deployment.
  • Work collaboratively with project leads to meet timeline milestones during assigned evening or overnight shifts.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Level 3 Data Center Technician or in a senior fiber installation role.
  • Advanced proficiency in fiber optic patching and bundled fiber management.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow complex patching schedules and infrastructure diagrams.
  • Willingness and availability to work the 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM or 11:00 PM - 7:00 PM shift.
  • Strong organizational skills with an emphasis on precision and neatness in cabling.
  • Possession of or willingness to purchase over-the-ankle, ESD-rated composite toe safety boots.
  • Ability to work effectively in a high-demand, contract-based project environment.
  • Strong work ethic and the ability to maintain high productivity with minimal supervision.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be willing and able to climb and work from ladders regularly.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and stoop for the duration of an 8-hour shift.
  • Must be able to lift and carry materials up to 50 pounds.
  • Capacity to work in tight or restricted areas common to data center environments.
  • Manual dexterity required for handling delicate fiber optic connectors and small components.
  • Visual acuity to distinguish between colored cables and read small-print labels.
