Location: Central Office & Special Education Department Office at Sanford High School
Position Summary The Sanford School Department is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Administrative Assistant to support student enrollment and special education services. This position plays a critical role in maintaining accurate student records and ensuring a smooth enrollment experience for families throughout the school year.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Manage the student enrollment process for new and returning students, including collecting, verifying, and maintaining enrollment documentation
  • Assist families with the enrollment process, providing clear guidance and support
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records in compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Support the Special Education department with enrollment documentation, records management, and filing
  • Assist in the organization of Individualized Education Program (IEP) records and related documents
  • Ensure confidentiality and proper handling of all student records in accordance with FERPA guidelines
  • Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, school staff, and outside agencies
  • Respond to records requests from families, schools, and authorized agencies in a timely manner
  • Perform general administrative duties including answering phones, managing correspondence, and data entry
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or higher preferred
  • Prior experience in a school or office setting preferred
  • Knowledge of special education processes and terminology a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and student information systems
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
