Job description

A third-generation company with nearly 1,500 associates across six manufacturing facilities in South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Virginia, and Texas, Metromont is a leader and pioneer in the engineering and manufacturing of precast concrete. Most of all, we're a trusted partner, working side-by-side with our customers from the earliest stages of project design through turnover of the completed structure. In addition to the production of precast concrete, Metromont provides our customers with complementary design and engineering, hauling, erection, and field services to support their full construction needs. Across the eastern seaboard, the southeast, and even as far west as Arizona, our customers rely on us to provide innovative precast solutions and the best quality for their parking structures, data centers, multifamily housing, office buildings, warehouses, schools, and stadiums. Position Purpose
This position is responsible for operating large mobile cranes on jobsites for lifting precast units, equipment, and materials.
Responsibilities
  • Determine load weights and check them against lifting capabilities to prevent overload.
  • Inspect cables, pins and sheaves for wear or damage. Install or replace as needed.
  • Responsible for moving crane in and out of jobs working closely with A/D supervisor to assure the crane is put together and taken apart safely.
  • Work closely with erection foreman to ensure safest and most productive way to approach erecting the job.
  • Assure that the crane is setup on developed stabilized crane road pad and is within 1% of level.
  • Responsible for daily inspection to ensure safe operation.
  • Contact field operations whenever technical help necessary for new crane parts and repairs.
  • Maintain daily work log and maintenance log.
  • Must be willing to travel and stay out of town though workweek as well as work hours deemed necessary to keep job on schedule.
  • Must adhere to all Metromont and OSHA safety rules and regulations.
  • Housekeeping as necessary to maintain work area, tools, and equipment in a clean and orderly manner.
