Summary/Objective

The Shipping & Receiving Clerk is responsible for all shipping and receiving activities; ensuring all products are properly packaged, accurately counted, shipped via appropriate method and in a timely manner, and all transactions, data entry, and records are accurate and complete. In addition, the Shipping & Receiving Clerk ensures proper procedures are followed in the receipt of goods.

Essential Functions

Receiving:

  • Receive and unload freight, either manually or with equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks.
  • Check for damaged goods; prepare damage claims and waivers when necessary.
  • Verify quantities and quality of received goods.
  • Verify items received with purchase order and packing slips, document lot numbers.
  • Properly identify, label and tag materials, supplies and components for ease of identification.
  • Perform all necessary data entry, including Sage.

Shipping:

  • Properly pack finished goods to prevent shipping damage; meet customer specs, professional appearance.
  • Ensure all certs and documentation are included; proper shipping method and procedures used.
  • Perform all necessary data entry, including Sage (ERP).
  • Finished goods inventory accurate and organized.
  • Monitor all packing supplies and ensure in stock.

Other:

  • Deliver and retrieve supplies and material to and from work or storage areas.
  • Assist in driving continuous improvement activities.
  • Participate in physical inventory counts or raw material or finished goods.
  • A physical presence is required at all times in the Shipping and Receiving area.

Work Environment
This job operates in an industrial/manufacturing environment. This role routinely uses standard shipping and receiving equipment such as tape dispensers, forklifts, hand-trucks, handcarts, knives, snips, packaging straps, etc. as well as office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Some of the work will require exposure to loud noises or fumes in the manufacturing environment.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, and typical work hours and days are Monday through Friday, 7:00AM to 3:30PM


Requirements:

Required Education and Experience

  1. High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)

Preferred Education and Experience

  1. 1-Year Shipping & Receiving experience preferred.
  2. Experience with UPS, FedEx and their logistical operations, preferred.
  3. Experience packaging items well and professional to prevent damage.
  4. Familiarity with measurements and basic math; inches, millimeters, fractions, decimals points, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and conversions.
  5. Data entry and work on the computer is an essential function of this job; experience would be helpful.
  6. Forklift certification is preferred
