Position Summary

Avum is seeking an experienced Data Architect to design, develop, and maintain enterprise data solutions that support mission critical Federal and Department of Defense (DoD) programs. This individual will lead data architecture efforts, establish data standards, and ensure that data systems are scalable, secure, and aligned with business objectives.

The ideal candidate has experience designing modern data platforms, integrating data from multiple sources, and supporting data driven decision making across complex organizations. This role will work closely with software engineers, business analysts, program leadership, and stakeholders to develop data strategies that support both operational and analytical needs.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain enterprise data architectures, data models, and database structures.
  • Develop data strategies that support business, operational, and reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data needs and translate requirements into technical solutions.
  • Design and implement data integration solutions across multiple systems and platforms.
  • Establish and enforce data governance, data quality, and data management standards.
  • Ensure data solutions meet security, compliance, and performance requirements.
  • Support cloud based and hybrid data environments.
  • Optimize databases, data pipelines, and storage solutions for performance and scalability.
  • Develop and maintain data architecture documentation, diagrams, and technical specifications.
  • Partner with software development teams to support application integrations and data services.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements to data architecture and management practices.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $145,000 – $180,000 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, certifications, and geographic location. Required Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Engineering, or related field. Equivalent experience may be considered.
  • 5+ years of experience in data architecture, database design, or data engineering.
  • Experience designing and implementing enterprise data models and database solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of relational and non-relational databases.
  • Experience with data integration, ETL/ELT processes, and data migration activities.
  • Understanding of data governance, data quality, and data security principles.
  • Experience supporting cloud based data platforms and services.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active Secret Security Clearance.
  • Experience supporting Federal Government or Department of Defense programs.
  • Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud data services.
  • Experience with data warehousing, business intelligence, and analytics platforms.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
