Job description

The Data Analyst I - Mortgage position is responsible for compiling, analyzing mortgage data, preparing reports, arranging new data sources, making presentations, dashboards, interpreting data, and creating automation projects and low-code applications to drive actionable insights and innovation for the Mortgage line-of-business.

This position will be based in Jackson, MS or Birimingham, AL.


  • Create, run, modify, and produce accurate standard/ad-hoc queries and reports to support Mortgage business needs for information and/or data.
  • Analyze and understand internal and external mortgage and economic data to provide up-to-date trends and forecasting to assist with data-driven decisions.
  • Create dashboards, meaningful graphic visualizations, general and executive-level presentations, and effective reports to deliver actionable insights to all mortgage stakeholders.
  • Maintain current knowledge on data and analytic trends and best practices for long-term solutions related to Mortgage data.
  • Develop 2-3 automation projects per year using Python/SQL or low-code/no code tools.
  • Complete monthly Fair Lending related incentive studies and deliver to key management stakeholders.
  • Maintain Mortgage analytics and automation infrastructure through error tracking and application lifecycle management frameworks.
  • Perform regular audits of Mortgage databases to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Associates are expected to perform all additional duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Data Analytics, Real Estate, or related field of study, or equivalent work experience
  • 2 years of data analytics experience or demonstrated aptitude for analytics
  • Ability to write SQL queries.
  • Knowledge of banking industry, preference is prior experience with Trustmark data and organizational structure
  • Must be able to exercise confidentiality at all times
  • Must have strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects effectively
  • Proven experience applying attention to detail with strong critical thinking
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to maintain cooperative working relationships
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs
  • Data Analytics or other related certification preferred
  • Experience with dashboard software including Power BI, Tableau etc. preferred
  • Ability to write Python scripts preferred
  • Experience using Microsoft Azure, Power Automate, Power Apps preferred

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:  Must be able to sit for long periods of time and use computer keyboard and/or mouse requiring hand and wrist manipulation, while viewing computer screens.
