We're actively seeking a talented Data Steward to join our Institutional Division Business Insights team in [Newport Beach, CA; Omaha, NE; or Charlotte, NC].
As a Data Steward you'll move Pacific Life, and your career, forward by managing data for multiple Institutional business stakeholders and requires a proactive approach to ensuring data accuracy and efficiency. The primary focus of the role is on data coordination, management, and governance to ensure appropriate, consistent, and efficient application of data around various business use cases. You will fill a new role that sits on a team of 8 people in the Institutional division.

How you'll help move us forward:

  • Data Coordination & Integration: Coordinating and driving prioritization of data changes across various departments and integrating data with IT systems. Ensure alignment of data architecture across different work streams for a more uniform system. Support Data/IT in designing and developing Source of Truth data repository.
  • Support & Implementation: Supporting new product implementation into systems and production processes. Develop necessary requirements for Data/IT to implement new products for administration, valuation, reporting, and product monitoring / management.
  • Quality Assurance & Governance: Ensuring data quality and consistency by deploying validation checks/rules and data cleansing activity. Build process to identify and address potential data issues that could impact downstream use cases by understanding usages across the division. Create requirements for necessary controls and QA processes for Data/IT to build and deploy.
  • Analysis & Insights: Support exploratory data analysis, provide insights from data repository elements to business users across the division. This encompasses both source data and downstream output for reporting and ad-hoc analysis.
  • Documentation & training: Provide training, creating a comprehensive documentation of data process for division and enterprise function users.

The experience you bring:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field.
  • Experience: Expertise in data management, data governance, data architecture solutions and data development life cycle.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in SQL, databases, data lakes, data visualization tools, scripting languages (e.g., Python, R), and data management platforms. Experience with Snowflake is a plus.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical abilities to interpret complex data and solve problems effectively.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills for collaboration and conveying technical concepts.
  • Project Management: Experience in task prioritization, timeline management, and stakeholder coordination.
  • Continuous Learning: Commitment to staying updated with advancements in data management techniques and industry trends.

Base Pay Range:

The base pay range noted represents the company's good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.

$167,670.00 - $204,930.00
