Job description

System Administrator

Responsibilities

  • Manage and optimize Information Technology tools and solutions to support operational requirements.
  • Create, implement, maintain, troubleshoot, and utilize advanced BASH, Perl,
  • JavaScript, Python, PowerCLI, &/or PowerShell scripts to automate repetitive tasks, enhance system functionalities, and troubleshoot issues. Must also be comfortable performing Administration and O&M tasks from the command line.
  • Maintain detailed documentation for system designs, configurations, processes, and service records.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support IT infrastructure projects, providing expert guidance and technical leadership.
  • Lead and mentor junior team members in best practices and technical challenges.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Analyzes development and implementation requirements and makes appropriate modifications to existing systems and prepares specifications based on customer requests.

Basic Qualifications

  • Candidate will hold a ComSci/CIS/InfoSec/IT related bachelor's degree (or higher) with ~8+ years of Information Security work experience or an equivalent combination of education, certifications, & IT experience.
  • Strong knowledge and proficiency (e.g., ~8+ years of experience) with Infrastructure related technologies such as Active Directory, Group Policy Objects (GPOs), User Account Management, DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP, IPv4/IPv6 addressing, Server Administration, Certificate Services, Ansible, Server Clustering, and Virtualization.
  • Candidate will hold and maintain a current vendor (or one version release previous) certifications such as "Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate", "Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)", "VMware Certified Professional - Data Center Virtualization 2024 [v2] (VCP-DCV 2024)", or higher IT/InfoSec related certification.
  • Ability to manage and troubleshoot a comprehensive disaster recovery and backup strategy utilizing hybrid cloud solutions such as CommVault Metallic Backups.
  • Experience performing administration, management, troubleshooting and deployment of operating system updates/upgrades, security patches, and software to Desktops and Servers in both physical and virtualized environments.
  • Candidate will be well versed in Planning, Implementation, Administration and Troubleshooting issues involved with platforms across a variety of OS servers including Microsoft Windows and Red Hat.; ensuring their reliability, security, and optimal performance.
  • Capability to troubleshoot and resolve LAN/WAN connections, performance/throughput issues, and other related network problems.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to participate in a 24/7/365 on call rotation.
  • Possess knowledge &/or familiarity with security hardening framework standards and regulations from Center for Internet Security (CIS) Control 4, National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Special Publication 800-53 Revision 5, and Defense Information Systems Agency's (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).
