Our Network Infrastructure team owns the rapid deployment and reliable maintenance of the critical hardware and network systems that provide the technical underpinnings for all of Akamai's products. Our team ensures consistent availability and performance for our customers.

Partner with the best

This role will be responsible for building a new, US-based organization within Infrastructure focused on driving operational excellence in the activities that occur in our hyperscale pods in wholesale colocation facilities. You will also be responsible for the rapid physical deployment of new equipment and maintaining all equipment within our stated SLAs.

As a Senior Manager, Data Center Operations, you will be responsible for:

  • Managing a team of employees that supervises the activities of our Field Technician contractors in hyperscale pods across the United States
  • Building relationships with third-party system integrators (SIs) used for deployment and maintenance activities as well as overrseeing the work
  • Building relationships with large-scale data center providers for new deployments and on-going operations
  • Conducting inventory control on local spare parts, including RMA coordination for defective parts
  • Coordinating with Compliance team on access list management for assigned data centers
  • Maintaining 24x7 staffing and escalation path to address network incidents and SLA adherence
  • Evaluating and adapt our training curriculum to the specific needs of hyperscale pods
  • Coordinating the staffing of Field Technicians at our hyperscale pods

  • Have 10 years relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Management Information Systems, another related field or its equivalent experience
  • Have extensive experience working with data center vendors and the data center environment
  • Have a track record of solid employee development and engagement

  • Have experience guiding teams through process changes and realignments

Compensation

Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. For US based candidates only - the base salary for this position ranges from $132,100 - $237,900/year; a candidate's salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. Compensation for candidates outside the US will vary. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
