Job Summary

This role leads the Data Center Engineering organization, with accountability for the design, reliability, and lifecycle management of critical data center infrastructure—including compute, network, power, and environmental systems. The position drives operational excellence, scalability, and resiliency across data center operations while aligning engineering strategy with enterprise business objectives. The Sr. Manager plays a key leadership role in maturing engineering practices, optimizing infrastructure performance, and ensuring high availability of mission-critical platforms that support customer-facing services.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute data center engineering strategies that support scalable, resilient, and cost-effective operations while aligning infrastructure roadmaps with business growth and service reliability objectives.

  • Oversee the performance, maintenance, and lifecycle management of critical infrastructure including compute, storage, networking, power, cooling, fiber optics, and structured cabling.

  • Ensure high availability and operational stability across data center environments while meeting uptime targets and service level commitments.

  • Establish and drive standardized engineering processes, operational procedures, and change management practices that improve efficiency, reduce risk, and strengthen reliability.

  • Develop and maintain monitoring, telemetry, and reporting capabilities to provide visibility into infrastructure performance, identify risks, and support data-driven decision making.

  • Lead long-term capacity planning, forecasting, and infrastructure scaling initiatives to support business growth and evolving technology requirements.

  • Partner closely with Network Engineering, Operations, Facilities, Security, Architecture, and other key stakeholders to deliver cross-functional infrastructure programs and projects.

  • Drive accountability for project execution, timeline management, operational excellence, and successful business outcomes.

  • Lead incident response efforts, root cause analyses, and post-incident reviews, driving corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance resiliency.

  • Utilize operational, financial, and performance data to guide investment decisions, optimize total cost of ownership, and align infrastructure priorities with business objectives.

  • Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing engineering team through coaching, performance management, succession planning, and career development.

  • Establish a culture of ownership, accountability, customer focus, and results-driven execution.

  • Ensure compliance with internal standards, governance requirements, audit controls, and regulatory obligations across data center operations.

  • Build strong relationships with internal customers and technology partners to support the successful deployment and operation of business-critical applications and services.

  • Communicate infrastructure strategy, operational performance, risks, and key initiatives to senior leadership and executive stakeholders.

Required Skills

  • 5+ years of experience supporting, managing, or engineering data center environments.

  • Prior people leadership experience is required, including direct management of employees and demonstrated ability to coach, develop, manage performance, and hold teams accountable for results.

  • Working knowledge of data center infrastructure including electrical systems and power infrastructure, cooling systems/HVAC, structured cabling, fiber optics, server hardware, network infrastructure, and storage platforms.

  • Experience working with Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) tools, preferably dcTrack.

  • Strong understanding of infrastructure operations, asset management, monitoring, capacity planning, and lifecycle management.

  • Proven ability to operate effectively in mission-critical environments where uptime, reliability, and operational discipline are essential.

  • Demonstrated ability to drive results, own commitments, and hold themselves and others accountable for deliverables and outcomes.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.

  • Strong relationship-building skills with a customer-first mindset and a focus on delivering exceptional service to internal stakeholders.

  • Ability to work effectively across Engineering, Operations, Facilities, Security, and business teams to drive alignment and execution.

  • Strategic thinker who can balance day-to-day operational priorities with long-term infrastructure planning and organizational goals.
