Job description

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is currently hiring for an Engineering Technician to support our data centers. The Engineering Technician will help ensure overall availability and reliability to meet or exceed defined service levels of data center operations.
The Data Center Engineering Technician will be responsible for ensuring the overall operation and maintenance of all electrical, mechanical, and HVAC equipment within the data center. This equipment supports mission-critical servers and must maintain better than 99.999% uptime. The Data Center Engineering Technician will continue to maintain high reliability and performance while keeping operating costs in facilities at a minimum.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise contractors who perform servicing or preventive maintenance
- Perform limited maintenance tasks to include: Rack PDU & Rack ATS replacements, rack installation and seismic bracing
- Perform root cause analysis for operational issues
- Troubleshoot facility and rack level events
- Ensure all personnel on-site follow safety protocols
- Keep track of alarms and respond accordingly
- Perform basic support concepts such as ticketing systems, root cause analysis, and task prioritization
Physical Requirements:
All physical requirements are expected with reasonable accommodations

A day in the life
This role acts as Amazon's front line when it comes to hands-on electrical and mechanical equipment preventative maintenance (PM) and troubleshooting, reporting to a site's Data Center Facility Manager (FM). They will track maintenance on mission-critical data center facility equipment including diesel generators and related fuel systems, electrical systems such as switchgear, UPS units, PDUs, batteries, and associated systems. Mechanical equipment includes CRAHU units, centrifugal chillers, cooling towers, water systems, air handlers and associated systems, pumps, and motors. Additional support equipment is included in the scope of the role which includes fire/life safety equipment, building automation systems, and general facilities equipment.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 1+ years of electrical or mechanical, or 1+ years of data center or mission critical facilities (example: hospital, military facility, public safety facility, etc.) experience
- 1+ years of Microsoft Office products and applications experience
- Work a flexible work schedule including evenings, overnights, and weekends

- 2+ years of data center engineering experience
