Data Center Technician / Project Coordinator

About the Role

PGTEK is seeking a customer-focused Data Center Technician / Project Coordinator to support a high-performance computing (HPC) environment for a major enterprise customer. This is a unique opportunity for someone who enjoys balancing hands-on infrastructure work with customer interaction and project coordination.

In this role, you'll be responsible for supporting critical data center operations while serving as a primary point of contact for customers, coordinating project activities, and ensuring successful execution of infrastructure initiatives.

Responsibilities
  • Provide hands-on support for enterprise server, storage, networking, and data center infrastructure.
  • Coordinate and lead recurring project status meetings with customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Serve as the primary customer contact, providing regular updates and ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction.
  • Support and maintain an HPE SGI 8600 High Performance Computing (HPC) environment, including associated storage and networking infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and customer teams to troubleshoot issues and coordinate maintenance activities.
  • Document project status, action items, infrastructure changes, and operational procedures.
  • Perform hardware installations, upgrades, troubleshooting, repairs, and preventative maintenance.
  • Assist with planning and coordinating infrastructure projects from initiation through completion.
  • Ensure work is completed according to data center best practices and customer requirements.

Requirements

  • Must be a US citizen
  • Previous experience as a Data Center Technician, Infrastructure Technician, or similar technical support role.
  • Strong project coordination or project management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work directly with customers.
  • Experience supporting enterprise server, storage, and networking hardware.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting High Performance Computing (HPC) environments.
  • Familiarity with HPE enterprise server platforms, particularly HPE SGI systems.
  • Experience with rack-and-stack deployments, structured cabling, hardware diagnostics, and data center operations.
  • Working knowledge of enterprise storage and networking technologies.
  • Experience supporting mission-critical infrastructure in an enterprise or data center environment.
