Job description

Fiber Technician & Fiber Helper

Location: Omaha, NE

Duration: Through November 2026

Schedule: Monday-Friday | 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM

Position Overview

TEKsystems is seeking 2 Fiber Technicians and 2 Fiber Helpers to support one of our clients on a commercial data center construction project in Omaha, NE. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a large-scale infrastructure project involving fiber optic, Cat6, and low-voltage cabling installations.

ResponsibilitiesFiber Technicians
  • Install, route, label, and terminate fiber optic cabling
  • Perform fiber testing using Fluke or similar testing equipment
  • Install and support Cat6 and instrumentation cabling
  • Read and interpret project drawings and specifications
  • Maintain quality standards and follow safety procedures
Fiber Helpers
  • Assist with cable pulling and installation activities
  • Support labeling and organization of cabling infrastructure
  • Help maintain tools, materials, and work areas
  • Assist technicians with fiber and low-voltage installation tasks
  • Follow project safety and job site requirements
Required Skills
  • Fiber optic cable installation
  • Fiber labeling and termination
  • Experience with fiber testing (Technicians)
  • Cat6 cabling experience preferred
  • Low-voltage cabling experience is a plus
Requirements
  • OSHA 10 Certification
  • MEWP/Lift Certification preferred (onsite certification available if needed)
  • Ability to work in a commercial construction environment
Work Environment
  • Commercial data center construction site
  • Work boots, jeans, and sleeved shirts required
  • PPE provided onsite

This is a Contract position based out of Omaha, NE.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
