Job Description:

L3Harris Technologies is looking for a Field Technician for the Company's Field Services organization supporting the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This role will be responsible for field support in the Kansas City airspaces. Field technicians will support FAA contracts FTI, ADSB, DCNS and any other FSG programs.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide technical support for each specific program/system (FTI, MS, ADS-B, DCNS, WMSS and others) L3Harris supports the FAA.
  • Install, repair, configure, test and complete preventative maintenance on a variety of equipment at the customers' remote locations.
  • Able to work remotely in a scheduled and on-call capacity to various customer locations within your assigned area. Occasionally travelling to remote sites outside your assigned area may be needed from time to time to assist with the FAA customer needs and/or requests.
  • Able to read/understand/follow equipment drawings and task orders.
  • Possess good admin skills (taking notes and documenting what transpired while working at the customer location).
  • Work directly with the NOCC, the SAC, and the Helpdesk over the phone on resolving issues in the field.
  • Maintain tools, test equipment, parts/electronics, truck stock inventory and personal or company vehicle.
  • Be proactive and prepared for assigned tasks prior to dispatching.
  • Able to work outside regularly scheduled hours (on-call) when/if needed to meet customer's needs.
  • Lift items up to 32 lbs. and use ladders and step stools to reach heights of approximately 10ft.
  • Work with your supervisor (ASL) to ensure all L3Harris policies/procedures and program specific policies/procedures are followed.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Driver's License, and a satisfactory driving record, as conditions of initial (and continued) employment.
  • Ability to obtain a FAA Public Trust clearance.

Qualifications:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Network+, CCNA, CCNP, CCNA Wireless, A+
  • Working knowledge of cable connectors and replacement, such as RJ-11, RJ-45, DB-25, V.35, RS-449
  • Have an excellent working knowledge of fiber, working knowledge of Multiplexes, Network topology, Frame Relay, Fractional T-1, SONET Network Technology, ATM, Private Line, Voice and Data applications
  • Working knowledge of power testing, AC and DC including 3 Phase AC. Familiar with configuration and operation of the 24VDC & 48 VDC power supplies.
  • Experience with network and circuit testing with T1 Testing Specifications, DS3 Testing, Digital Testing (BERT), and Analog VG Testing within Bell Core Standards.
  • Working knowledge and usage of various network test equipment:  JDSU HST, Ameritech AM5XT, Sage 935, Digital Oscilloscope, Halcyon 704A, Para-scope or other T1/DS3 Test sets.
  • IP Based knowledge with experience configuring routers and switches
  • Experience installing equipment racks (wallmount, raised floors, concrete, etc.)
